8-10 new ones he said, blend of youth and experience. Wants to bring in an experienced striker who’s scored goals for years to stop inconsistency between 28-30 y/o
Haha if only it was that easy! To get a player like that in the championship is going to cost big money in both fee and wages.... If a player like that comes on the market the bigger champ teams and possibly lower end PREM teams will be sniffing so will cost us even more in wages to get them to come to us over them. I agree with him, but I also know every other team in the lower half of PREM and top half of the champ will be looking for the same.....it's going to be an interesting summer
It was a quite enjoyable evening. What did people expect? It will be 1st of many events to repair the damage caused by the former owners.
Need not make the mistake of signing players who’ve scored goals in a specific system, Eaves in 442 in LG1. To bring them in to play an entirely different style. Personally think our best chance is to be bringing in a few good forwards who’ll spread the goals out between them rather then a singular player. Cheaper and harder to play against. Our LG1 team was so hard to play against because you had to watch all the front 3 as if any of them weren’t accounted for they’d score. Need a focal point like Keinan Davis at Forest or Adebayo at Luton, who’s a goal threat but also brings the others into play and works defenders non stop.
Rob Palmer was fine whilst Nick Barmby was speaking. After that he was a pratt, when some prick charmed up and declared himself an FC fan and wanted to know, basically what Acun was going to do for Hull Fc Palmer weighed in with 'historically Hull has always been three quarters rugby league, your either red and white or black and white, with the other quarter football and most of them Leeds United' This in front of our new owner and a room full of Hull City members. Acun was put on the spot with the next question, 'have you considered giving fans a discount who buy a joint pass pass for City and Fc' ? I got the impression that Acun knew virtually nothing about the eggchasers before tonight and I hope he isn't swayed by the infiltrators in the room who wanted the meeting to be about them backed up by Palmers stupid fawning on their behalf. Big exclusive was he ( and it was hardly an exclusive at all) is going to take 250 fans and 250 noisy ones to Turkey, could have lost something in translation there, but that was it basically. A four or five day freebie in Turkey to spread the Hull City name. Good intentions yes, but HTF is he or the club going to choose who goes and who doesn't without upsetting everyone ? Interesting spot for me was what was Daren Hale doing sat on the Hull City table all night and why was he still wearing his gardening jumper when the rest of the table were in suits, collars and ties ?
That’s really disappointing about palmer What a twat Hale in a scruffy jumper? Shades of ***** bayes turning up scruffy as for his meeting with Allam snr?
So he's confirmed we will play Fenerbahce in pre season. Only a pre season, but I can't help but feel they'd batter City as we are now.
Nicky Barmby was excellent. His love for this club and his desire to play for us made the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end the way he described it in his quiet unassuming way, because you could tell he meant every word. Then Acun did his best to play to the crowd and press the right buttons, which I think he did without telling us anything new. But the Q@A was disappointing, as was Palmers handling of it. I'm sure 99% of people there tonight did not want the first half spent listening to RL questions or the embarrasing show of hands Palmer asked for, 'who's red white' ? about eight hands shot up, 'who's black and white' ? again about 8 hands shot up. 'who's Hull City' ? Virtually all hands shot up. Palmer, then said 'pretty equal then'. Pratt.
Re. the big exclusive. Well intended, and I hope it comes off. But, he said June. That's going to take some doing .... unless it's all retirees and unemployed. Fair play that he mentioned something about trying to make it so that it's say the first 100 based on those having held a season ticket / membership the longest (are the records even there though) and then the rest by lottery. At least he recognises the need to try to reward the loyal ones (although as always it's a minefield). Also said it was x2's (partners), so 500 in total. I would say we should not look for holes in it, but just take it for what it is - a great gesture, trying to get fans back on board, get the buzz back, spread the name, etc. Said we should have our own song / anthem. He's right. Good luck with that too! A great request from someone in the audience to get Ash back involved in the club. He didn't seem to know who the supporter was on about (Ash), and the explanation from Rob Palmer didn't really do him justice either. But now it's been raised to him, I bet he will soon know all about Ash, and will try to do something about it. He asked for full support of Shota. He clearly believes 100% in him. He spoke a lot of sense about him and what he's faced so far. As others say, judge next season, not this. He 100% gets what it means to be a supporter, although there are bound to be the odd language and cultural differences.
That stupid woman wanted a drop kick right in the fanny, oh and all us there tonight will go to Turkey apart from that silly cow.
Thinking of players that are experienced and have a good goalscoring record at Championship level, Nakhi Wells would be a good shout. We had him on trial back in 2012 I think. He wants to leave Bristol City, not sure he'd cost too much and has over 300 appearances at Championship level, averaging a goal every 3 games.
