I thought SWP was great on Sunday up and down the pitch, coming back to make crucial tackles. Think people are way wrong here.
I'd take SWP before Routledge any day of the week. Routledge is busy, has quick feet and has pace but absolutely no end product. A useful stand-in if our excellent wingers are injured but no more than that. He's been moved into a central position and has kept Dobbie out who will give us goals if he's given a chance imo. Compare that with Routledge - 111 games with no return and he's supposed to be an attacking midfielder! He flatters to decieve and doesn't produce enough, but I'm not the manager.
SWP is a far better player than Routledge and also has a much better attitude. I find Routledge a very disagreeable chap.
In my opinion SWP is a proven Premership player, where as Wayne has never quite sat the Premier alight.
I like Routledge, Scored some gems last season: Coventry, Hull and that classic against Reading away...but he struggles a bit in the prem. SWP always looks dangerous...
How is Routledge doing? Premier league goals - still waiting! Said it from the start that I am not exactly happy with his signing, but whilst he is a swans player he gets my backing
Think SWP is better than Routledge - but not that much. Routledge scored good goals for us at the lower level, SWP hasn't managed that yet - but reckon when he gets one, a torrent will follow.
the only real difference between the two is half a yard of pace. Neither are technically brilliant, but SWP can get past people with a kick and chase, whereas Routledge has to time it alot better. I'm not convinced by him, but he might grow in to the attacking midfield role we need to fill
Similar sort of players, but when Routledge was at Newcastle he looked like he was scared to take on opposition wingers, even though he had the ability. Think maybe the PL goal drought is affecting him psychologically.
Agree with that mate, seems very much a confidence player. Who know's he could score one next week and ten might follow.
I'm not being funny but SWP is a million times better then Routledge! People must be mad to think otherwise.
Anybody expecting a 'torrent of goals' from SWP may have a long wait. Good player, frightens defenders with his pace, works very hard, but has never been a prolific goalscorer. I would be more hopeful of a lot of assists, but the final ball has to be better. Still, no doubt he is much better than Routledge.
SWP seems to me a player who doesn't know when to slow down. I think his technique lets him down sometimes, and he relies on kicking the ball in the same direction he's running to get shots on target (if you know what I mean? Hard to explain that theory...). Having said that, I think he's a better player than Routledge.
Agree with Ellers - though SWP had a great game on Sunday especially defensively. Would never get that sort of committment from Routledge. With both players in the premiership, I would far rather have SWP for the experience he brings and the much bigger goal threat. We all know Routledge has failed to score in 110 premier league games or whatever it is and I have said previously he was overrated in the Championship. Scored 4 goals for us in about 20 games - seyi olofinjana (Cardiff defensive mid) scored 5 in the same period. Not a great goal return for someone who never tackles. He does little else for the team and is clearly a complete c0ck! Definitely not a premiership player if he cant get nathan "you should be in jail" dyer out the Swansea team!
You mean Nathan "player of the year" Dyer, right? So Dyer should be in jail for stealing some **** out of a womans purse about 3 or 4 years ago? I'm glad you're not in charge of the countries laws!
49 games and 2 goals in the Championship - cannot understand how taarabt beat him to the player of the season award!? The reference was to an amusing chant a few years back when Swansea came to Loftus Road and Dyer was terrorised by the fans and had to be subbed early. I am sure most footballers should be in jail but luckily I have no influence on the countries' laws!
Well, if you will spend a year giving the ball to one player, he will stand out. Dyer has learned his lessons. It looks like you're still waiting for Adel to learn... well... anything!
