Four Grade 1s open the card at Aintree and, although some Cheltenham Festival stars will be missing, we should still celebrate a great opening to the 3-day festival. In the Manifesto, Gin On Lime is clearly interesting and 4/1 looks pretty decent with the weight she gets from the geldings. The 4YO Anniversary Hurdle should go to Pied Piper if he is over his Cheltenham exertions. The Bowl has always been a bit of a funny race but I think Eldorado Allen might be the one. The Aintree Hurdle looks a poor betting heat with 7 runners but I'd take a chance on Glory And Fortune to reverse form with Epatante and Zanahiyr over this longer trip.
Aintree 14,55 Eldorado Allen 13/2 WH, others 6/1 16,05 Dashing Perk 22/1 e/w bet365 six places, WH five places, others 20/1 five and six places 16,40 The Last Day 16/1 e/w Lads five places, sky 14/1 six places, others 14/1 five places
Aintree certainly starts Day-1 with some high class events, Oddy. Never been a particularly lucky track for me (not like the Cheltenham Festival ). I tend to ignore horses who have run at the Cheltenham meeting, and look for those with Aintree course form. However, as I said, have poor record at Aintree for finding winners!
Dashing Perk certainly has to figure in the "interesting" column. He got no further than the first in this last year after being bulldozed to the ground by a horse jumping across him. He has only been seen twice since and has been plotted up for this by a yard that know how to get one ready for these unique fences.
Hopefully he will go a little further than last year. Only two races this year over a distance not his own (3m) but in the last one he was fourth and didn't do too bad given the conditions that day. Good jockey which is also important in this race. The stable was in horrible form a month ago but has now improved (6-21 last 14 days). Anyway the race is a lottery like Saturday's so I don't get my hopes up too high, I'll be happy if he gets a place.
Hello chaps hope all is well Easterby horse in the 4 05, coral are 5 places 125/1 demaine des laube Anyone else randomly fancy samcro to win the National even though there’s absolutely no logic whatsoever for it. Can just see it happening, or won’t make it past the first fence Discorama should be a great each way bet. As always depends on If it stays up / avoids trouble but it’s style is perfect usually stays out of trouble at the back, just needs to not leave it too late this time
Will keep it short. Hopefully these two will run well today, both have conditions to suit, i.e. decent good going, distance, and a reasonable chance on form. Here goes: 13:45 Aintree - Millers Bank (Kielan Wood rides for the Alex Hales yard) 15:30 Aintree -Brewin'upastorm (Sean Bowen on board for Olly Murphy stable) Win on each and e/w double. Good luck to you all!
Just noticed that there have been some unexpected withdrawals from Saturday's Grand National field, allowing Emma Lavelle's Eclair Surf to sneak in with a weight of just 10-6! This one really is a lively outsider with his excellent second (staying-on at the finish) to Win My Wings in this year's Eider Chase. Will put the gelding on my short list (which only has one other in it at the moment!)
For what its worth, my Aintree picks for today 1:45 - Gin on Lime, 4/1 2:20 - Pied Piper, eve 2:55 - Protektorat, 5/2, Kemboy, 6/1 3:30 - Zanahiyr, 15/8 4:05 - Myth Buster, 18/1, Dashing Perk, 22/1 4:40 - Gunsight Ridge, 8/1, King DArgent, 8/1, The Last Day, 12/1 5:15 - Naughtinesse, 5/1, Law Ella, 9/1 Good luck if you are having a play today...
