    Brutal.

Whoever led that raid was responsible for all of those loses.

    Here's how the briefing went;

We're going to all fly a couple of hundred feet above the treeline and arrive in a single, linear group.

Then we'll circulate within the kill zone firing off a few missles whilst taking AAA from all around with a few MANPADS thrown in, for good measure, until most of us are blown from the sky. Then the few that are left can go home for borscht, promotions and medals.

Until I watched this I doubted the numbers of helicopters the Ukrainians claim to have shot down, but if that is the tactical ability of the Russian helo drivers then I am surprised the Russians have any left!

    Edit.
On checking the source, it turns out I'm right - nobody is going to run a mission like that in real life. This is video from a military sim game, so I'm back to doubting the Ukrainian kill claims.

Drone video shows Russian tank 'opening fire on a cyclist' in Bucha at spot where bodies were later found strewn across the street
Footage of the attack in the Kyiv Oblast town shows a man walking his bicycle up a street, unaware that several Russian tanks lie in wait around the corner. In the first video, the drone appears to be watching the Russian tank column, but the footage also tracks the man as he is walking his bicycle up the north-westerly road that runs through a neighbourhood of destroyed or damaged buildings. As soon as he turns the corner into the side road, a flash is seen from an armoured vehicle, and a rocket is seen flying through the air. The video shows the armoured vehicle opening fire, letting off shots several more times in the direction of where the man entered the side road. After several blasts, the camera zooms in, and a larger flash is also seen when the tank - positioned parallel to the armoured vehicle - also fires in the man's direction. Another video reportedly showed the aftermath of the attack after Bucha was reclaimed from Moscow's clutches by Ukrainian troops. In it, a person believed to be the same man can be seen dead on the side of the road next to his bicycle.

Irish media reporting this morning that the Russian embassy in Dublin has asked the Irish govt to intervene because companies have stopped delivering fuel to the embassy and they are on the verge of running out. Also reports that Bank of Ireland has closed the embassy’s bank account.

These Irish folk seem to be a bit further down the road than the Brits in making their feelings known.

Did you read about the country, I forget which, that changed the name of the street the Russian embassy was on to independent ukraine Street.

So every piece of correspondence that leaves the Russian embassy needs that on it.

Sounds too good to be true

    No it's true alright.

In the Albanian capital, Tirana, they renamed the section of the street where the Russian embassy is as Free Ukraine Street.

Vilnius and Prague both renamed the street leading to the Russian Embassy as "Ukrainian Heroes Street".

Riga renamed the Russian Embassy street as "Ukraine Independence Street".

Russian teacher ‘shocked’ as she faces jail over anti-war speech pupils taped

When Irina Gen, a 55-year-old English and German language teacher in the Russian city of Penza, embarked on an anti-war speech in her classroom, little did she know she was being recorded by her own students.

“I just wanted to broaden my students’ worldview. I hoped to break through the propaganda that is being fed to this country. But look where it got me,” said Gen, who faces a long-term prison sentence for “discrediting” the Russian army after her message went viral.

Gen also voiced her disapproval of the way Russian state media framed the bombing of a maternity hospital in the besieged city of Mariupol as a Ukrainian-style provocation.

At the end of last month, Russian prosecutors announced they had opened a criminal case against Gen under a recently introduced law that criminalises the spread of so-called fake news about the Russian army.

Prosecutors specifically took issue with the statements Gen made about the Mariupol maternity ward. She has since been banned from leaving the country, and her lawyer said she faced up to 10 years in jail if found guilty.

Andrei Kolesnikov of the Carnegie Moscow Center said the experience of Gen and other teachers pointed to a worrying “Stalinisation” of Russian society. “It feels like we are in a time machine. A climate is created in which denunciations are encouraged by the authorities. We have seen the same processes develop under Stalin, which had devastating consequences,.”

Kolesnikov said he had been approached by “many university professors” who said they were scared to mention the “Ukrainian subject”. “They say that students are trying to provoke them into speaking about the conflict just to denounce them.”

Kolesnikov said if the current atmosphere in the country persisted, Russia “will soon have a new generation of Pavlik Morozov’s”, referring to the Soviet boy who denounced his father to the authorities and became a propaganda icon, with statues of him being raised all over Russia.

It's interesting that the support is getting even more aggressive from the UK and others. And that Russia has gone very quiet on threatening consequences for helping Ukraine.

There are a few tweets saying that the airspace over Poland is as busy as it's ever been with refiling tankers and cargo planes so something is going on. @Draig have you noticed it being particularly busy today?
