He's never set out to fail! He's always selected a team, with whatever constraints were on him, that he believed could win. I'm not qualified to assess his competence as a football manager but I know that he dearly would have loved to see QPR in the top six and maybe even dared to hope for top two at one point. So, yes, I do feel.sorry for him. For whatever reason(s), it's just not working and that is sad for the team, us and, indeed, Warbs too!
It’s a sorry demise towards the end of our season after such a strong start. Our club sure does know how to destroy any hope. We’ll be back. Things may shuffle a bit, but we’ll all be back and hopeful once again - it’s been going on like this for donkeys years. PS: hope everything’s OK Uber.
I just read only Man City had a better record than us in 2021 in the 4 Divisions. If only we could have put that in one season!
Good grief, we've become the best boy prefect to the school dunce in the corner. ( **** analogy, Sorry. ) Absolute ****e in double quick time. I must admit that I was a fan of Warburton, but now I'm not. But where too next?
No manager sets out to fail, but nearly every manager will somewhere along the line. Unfortunately for him he's failed at other clubs previously, and did a good job at Brentford before taking them as far as his limitations would. I'm afraid it's not working because of his decisions, be it picking the wrong team, the wrong tactics, players in the wrong positions, lack of motivational skills, all of the above and more. Ultimately these are relegation form results, it's been going on for too long and quite frankly our performances have been nothing short of shocking for ages. There's a lethargy and lack of get up and go in the team, and that comes from the manager. As a person I rather like him, as a manager he's been found out again. He has to go at the end if the season or nothing will change.
The most worrying thing, is that we've only mustered five shots on target in our last four games. All defeats.
Thanks all for kind wishes. Sorry to hijack the game thread; just intended a semi-amusing remark about being saved from watching another dire performance. The Old Dear was admitted and now trying to penetrate the hospital’s Covid wall to find out what’s going on. Long night. Anyway, promotion form 12 months ago. Relegation form now. Can’t see why the club would extend MW’s contract at the end of the season, but may as well let him see it out now. I only hope they do their homework and find a decent, young progressive manager and don’t knee-jerk back to Warnock. Don’t fancy Farke - his ship has sailed, I think, as did that chap at Huddersfield a few years back. There must be a few up and comings on the continent, but like a Luigi and not a Paulo.
Warburton has been blaming injuries/internationals/busy schedules for all the injuries, and the reason for all his chopping and changing. This has been the case for all teams, and I can't see that we have been affected any worse than other teams, and yet we've slid down the table and seen the standard of performance has significantly drop since January. The players that were brought in to help as backup haven't helped improve the side, and we've been very short on goals with Dykes absent. Warburton's response to this seems to have been to try something new every week...different players in different positions/different formations, so on and so forth. Could this be a response to criticism that he is not very flexible, which has been aimed at him before...or is it just a sign of desperation...trying anything and everything to see if something works. As others have said, little point in getting rid now, may as well let him stay until the end of the season...but interviewing for a new manager, we need ask a lot of questions about what their plans are, and what their reaction will be if it seems the plan is not working. The current management's response seems to be to panic and try anything and everything, and that is clearly not working.
