Stefan Johansen; 2016–2021 Fulham 126 (19) 2021 → Queens Park Rangers (loan) 21 (4) 2021– Queens Park Rangers 27 (1) Managed both; Ray Harford, RIP; 1984–1986 - Fulham 1997–199 - Queens Park Rangers Match Preview; So, before we get onto our match, or you read the doom and gloom below, let me (and Google) remind you of a few things...in 2002 Senegal beat France in the first game of the World Cup, in that same World Cup South Korea beat Italy, Greece won the 2004 European Championships...closer to home, Leicester won the Premier League in 2016 and MK Dons beat Man Utd 4-0 in 2014...my point being, shocks happen in football. Why do I feel the need to point that out? Our opponents on Saturday, Fulham, are currently 8 points clear at the top of the table. They've won 23 of their 37 games (although neither of their last two). Their top scorer, Aleksandar Mitrovic, has scored more goals this year than Peterborough, Barnsley and Hull City. They are well on track to win the division and go back to the Premier League. We, on the other hand, have won one of our last five, having given Peterborough 3 of their 32 league goals this year when they beat us 1-3. Our top scorer is still Lyndon Dykes, with 9 goals, even though he has been out injured for our last seven games. Chair and Gray are now just 1 goals behind him, and Willock now only 2 behind Dykes. With our recent run of form leading to dropping out of the playoff places, this game is likely to either go two ways...and early goal for Fulham and I fear the worst, or we show some grit and determination, and hold out for a draw, or even nick a win! The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium is sold out for this game...and so with a rocking atmosphere behind them, who knows what the team can achieve...stranger things have happened. Team News QPR: Lyndon Dykes is pushing for a return. Fulham: Joe Bryan, Antonee Robinson and Nathaniel Chalobah could also return. Pre-match Talk Mark Warburton (QPR manager): “They (Fulham) are a highly-talented team, who are top of the table for a reason. It is an expensively-assembled squad, with a vast amount of international experience but we have shown ourselves to be a very good team against any opponent in this league and we look forward to these challenges, we want to test ourselves, see where we are and show our quality. “It’s a London derby, which means so much to so many local people and the local communities, but we must embrace the challenge that Fulham will present us with.” Marco Silva (Fulham manager): “We know we are playing against a side with very good quality. They want to win the match as well. "They will want to show a reaction from the last few games where they didn’t get the result as well. It will be a tough match for both sides. "We want to play better than them and win the match.” ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Ray Harford managed both. Missing this one to be at daughters COVID delayed graduation in Toon. Feeling pretty relaxed about not being there. Cheers Dave
Don’t panic Captain Mainwaring!!! Don’t panic Captain Mainwaring!!! Don’t panic Captain Mainwaring!!!
Let's play Dykes and Austin 4-4-2 and just play hoof ball for last 8 games, haven't got a chance with present set up. It's still in our own hands got to change the whole philosophy for final bit of run in. Can't believe how much we miss Dieng and Willock, turns out they were pivotal to our season
Thoughts on team? We need a bit of pace at the back and can't afford to get over run in midfield, so something along: Westwood Moses, Dickie, Dunne, Barbet, McCullum Amos, Field, Steff Chair Dykes/Austin Gray not likely to be back in time as Jamaica have a game on Thursday...... Give them instructions to make a fast start and hound them form the off........ they are beatable......... oh and take it in turns to kick Mitrovic out the game, no one fouls him twice so ref can't book anyone for repeat fouls.......... to any Fulham fan tuning in, I'm (half) joking about kicking Mitrovic
Hard to know who will be fit but I'd go Westwood Dickie Dunne Barbet Albert Field Johansen (or Hendrick if Stefan is not fully fit) Moses Chair (or Amos) Dykes Gray ( or if only Austin is the only fit regular striker play both Chair and Amos behind him). If we do only have 1 fit striker I'd certainly like to see Armstrong or Kargbo on the Bench.
Will he pick Barbet at CB if the rumours about him not signing a contract are true? Warbs has previous for this even when his back is against the wall (Manning, BOS)
I don't think it matters what the starting line-up is Steels. You can harp about it all you like. We're going to get battered. Think QPR 0 Newcastle 6 , 13th Sept 2016.
Oh you're a happy boy tonight think you'd better piss off back to the Canaries We're gonna trounce them 0-0....
**** the Canaries, the missus caught covid ( despite wearing a mask everywhere ( Spanish Rules. ), and I got prickly heat despite it being cloudy, windy and rainy.) Now she's home all week. We made a pact that as we were all-inclusive and had done Lanzarote four times, we would plot, eat, drink and read our books. I ventured out to find a bar showing the QPR v Peterborough game ... ruined the holiday. Everyone who came into the bar towards the end were gutted as the QPR result ****ed up their bet. ( At least ten people. ) Luckily I only had my phone and it wouldn't allow me to log-on here.
Hopefully, although unlikely. My family in-laws are all Fulham this could well be a painful experience.
