What a great mix of people in Toronto then! I love diversity as it is so enriching. Canadian sport seems to be in a healthy state at the moment, not only in football but in athletics and tennis. Back to the football, but did you ever see Football Italia on Channel 4 back in the day, and James Richardson reporting about Ben Johnson having trials for this and that Sería A club in the wake of his Olympic disgrace?

 

I used to love football Italia. Me and my dad used to always watch it on a Sunday morning.

 

Also, while pushing for more Canadian content with Saints, Ismael Kone looks like he is going to be a monster. Was playing semi-pro as of a couple years ago (and man, semi-pro football in Canada is not National League standard), but he has been lighting up MLS since getting handed his debut, and was arguably the best Canadian player on the pitch after being introduced for his first cap against Costa Rica. Attacking central mid (his partner in the Montreal midfield is Victor Wanyama) who played a lot of wing as a youth and has the dribbling skills to match, only 19.

Almost definitely Europe-bound in the summer. Belgium/Holland make the most sense given that teams there have a long history of letting defensively-challenged young players refine their game, but if we wanted to take a punt on another young player who isn't quite ready for the big move...we could do with a hyper-aggressive young CM with ball skills.

 

Players like him are likely why we are looking for other clubs for the Sport Republic network. We really can’t take a punt but NAC Breda or the like could

 

Good point. Do we buy and loan to NAC or do they buy him with a later move to us as an option?

If it is the red bull model then it is the latter it seems. But that will be down to Sport Republic . And down to what fee and wages are required by the player on their first move

I’d expect loans to network clubs would be for our young British players in a Vitesse-Chelsea style. But that model has never been mentioned. Only the red bull one

 

Maybe not quite as talented as the U21 side featuring Foden, Rice, TAA etc but good to see some great talent coming through again. Tino, Ramsey, Madueke, Elliott have all made huge strides this season.

Yeah a fair chunk of NL clubs are professional these days.
