Update my end my wife's mother has found her way to Poland and they have been reunited and are now currently sorting things out to get her here for the near future. Obviously still worry as the men in her family have to stay in the country but one positive thing is if there can be positive news her Dad has not been accepted for the Military as he is blind one eye and recently had a stroke. Things could change though if push comes to push but touch wood something can happen before then. “Slava Ukraini!”

Great news. My brother managed to meet his family in Budapest and they eventually arrived back in the UK on Sunday after a really stressful time getting the visas sorted. At least they were safe from Russian attacks at this point though but the relief the whole family felt when they finally came through was immense. Plenty of tears that's for sure.

Excellent news. Totally understand it's a very stressful time I feel so sorry for every family who's had to be broken up over this. Millions of split up families not knowing what tomorrow brings for their loved ones who have had to stay behind.
We are still waiting for the visa too my wife has returned home and her mother is stuck in Vienna waiting for our government to pull their fingers out. Over 2 weeks we applied hopefully we will hear something in the next few days.
Take care I'm happy your brother and family are safe let's hope many more get the same good news.

Good luck and I hope you don't have to wait too long. We all got on to our MPs (6 different ones) so I think they were probably sick of us but something worked. My brother needed to get back to work but would not leave them in Germany (it was cheaper to stay there than Holland), as they were too traumatised. Going to see them all next week along with my mum when I take them some things I don't need anymore.

Yes it's a hassle my wife found that out too. Like I said she picked her mother up at the Poland border. they both slept in different hotels for numerous days then they both travelled to Austria which they have a cousin living there which is good but its someone they hardly know now her Mother is banged up in a full house of people she doesn't really know. My wife took a week off work for the 1st week and waited hoping her Visa would be issued so they could travel back here together which would be a lot easier as her Mother can't speak any English. sadly the Visa didn't come.
Now we are in our 3rd week which is a complete joke. when she does get issued a Visa my wife now has to travel again to pick her up from London and come back what a faff. all unnecessary red tape they both should of been able to travel back together in the 1st place. We will get there !

This country is trying to help ukranian people. They are being given access to benefits and over 20 thousand homes have applied to put them up. If i was in a nuetral country and had to wait a couple of weeks to come here i would be happy. It's the ones being murdered and bombed.. Shot and raped by the Russian scum i feel sorry for. The aid we should be sending should be missiles and planes.. Fuel and ammunition to help kill the invaders. Millions of Dollars should be offered for Putins head and a safe passage out for the assassins.
I saw a lady on tv complainung at the british govt for taking 10 days to get her father here who is 82.i for one would be praising this country for helping as i am now.
It will happen not long now.

Other countries don't have the access to benefits and a free health service. The floodgates would open i fear.

Again I agree and Understand what you say. but, I'm on about people who have blood related family in the Uk. ie the "Ukrainian Family Scheme" not the Homes for Ukraine. People who would take that person in without Funded benefits or whatever they have to offer. End of the day none of these Ukrainian people want to come to the Uk or any other country. their lives have been blown apart and I doubt the majority of Ukrainian Women and Children would flock to the Uk just for some benefit. Most of their families are still in the Ukraine I know where they rather would be.
Her Mothers life has been wrecked From a happy family home who's worked all her life as a nurse. now cruelly been separated from her Mother, Husband, siblings, Children. she's stuck in a foreign country in which she can't communicate and without People who she needs.
I understand the Homes for Ukraine would take longer as they are coming to a family they don't know they obviously need to know more. but this is under the Family Scheme in which the individual's daughter would offer everything for nothing if needed who also knows everything about that person.
Why are we in our 3rd week when it so simple to agree terms on.

Yes it's all very frustrating but get onto your MPs. That was the same with our relatives and although my brother couldn't speak with them he had his daughter with the translate luckily.

Once the biometrics were done I would have thought it was easy to complete the process with the family scheme once they were here. Having escaped the bombing in Kharkiv under traumatic circumstances was horrendous for our family but grateful they are now safe and away from Russian bombs.

That's the thing she didn't have to do the biometrics since the 15th it was scraped there is no red tape apart from the paperwork being seen and rubber stamped hopefully this week it will be finalised. I also hate people calling these people all refugees alot are evacuees her mother has fled with 17k of family savings in cash in a body bag across a war torn country. they don't want to leave they are being forced out to save their lives.

Not my country, but I fail to understand why the UK allows boat loads of illegals into the country yet fail to allow genuine refugees from a war torn country fleeing real danger, not looking for free handouts. <doh> Sorry, guys, but this stinks.
