Yeah that’s sort of what I’m seeing being said, in that it’s a potential positive for us but also a huge positive to the bankrolled teams. HBIC’s just posted the tweets if you wanna check it out, that’s where I initially saw it as Daily Hotspur mentioned it too.
That’s from a recent Deloitte football study, we’re something crazy like 9th. That’s without serious European football. Will dig it out
please log in to view this image We're 9th, Everton are 17th and we've got over double their revenue. They're ****ed on FFP too and Moshiri has had to distance himself from Usmanov.
No wonder, their wages to income is ridiculous in the posts above. It’s times like this I’m glad we’re at least ran responsibly. Arguably too conservatively at times, and in a misguided way. But at least responsibly. Because if we can now keep the stadium open and stay at least in the Europa then we’re going to be competitive on wages whatever happens. CL is of course key for attracting and retaining talent, and for being able to pay the big transfer fees, of course.
Los Ladrones are open to letting Luka Jovic leave this summer, presumably because they've hoarded him long enough Worth a cheeky loan?
I know it's been mentioned on here before but I'm intrigued to see what everyone's opion is of us potentially signing Dybala this summer ? Is he the marquee signing to complete our forward options or considering his probable extortionate wage demands and injury record too much of a risk ? Must admit Kulu, Kane, Son, Dybala and Gil does look a superb set of options.
I think he’s a phenomenal player technically and has a good G/A record for Juve. My concerns would be around his injury record (lots of smaller muscular injuries I believe which is actually quite worrying in a high-intensity league), consistency (the two may be linked) and nailing down his correct position. He isn’t the biggest but will work hard, though I can’t comment on tactical discipline which is an important factor for success under Conte for any player. I’d have some concerns but also be very excited if we signed him. Concerns especially because he’s nearly 29 and would be on a free so he’d likely be looking for a big wage, which would be problematic if his injury problems continued. Overall I think he’ll have better options elsewhere so unless Paratici and Conte are a massive pull for him, I don’t think he’ll end up here anyway. But I’m sure we’ll throw our hat in the ring.
UEFA are bought and paid for, and their current FFP rules cause a dichotomy (where to apply the rules to the letter means they have to "bite the hand that feeds" ) . Judging by the financial info also posted, it seems that of the PL top 6 regulars in particular, and in general, that Spurs are demonstrating by miles they are a well-run "business of their own account" .
Citeh are the only club on the Deloitte list to have INCREASED their revenues during the previous season. And by 100m odd Euros too. < take a bow, son >
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's name has come up again...and here's where things get complicated You see, currently the Premier League has banned signing players from Russian and Ukrainian teams, which would have ended negotiations before they started given yesterday he was playing for Rubin Kazan. However, today has seen this happen... So now there isn't an issue signing Khvicha as we wouldn't be negotiating with a Russian or Ukrainian club, instead we'd be negotiating with Georgian champions Dinamo Batumi, and he would reportedly be available for just €15m in the summer Of course, there is the obvious issue of having a front three of Kane, Kulusevski and Kvaratskhelia...
I mean, two of those names are pretty long, takes a long time to type them, I’m sure we could shorten it, maybe make an acronym, perhaps something like… …oh, ****
I’d love to have him here but I just can’t see it happening. 1 - I think he’d be colossal to get despite not having to pay a transfer fee. Quick Google search says he earns between £200k-£250k, not a major issue for us as that’s probably around what we pay Kane. Problem though is at 28 and being a free transfer, he’ll want his biggest contract of his career, a monster signing on fee plus other fees for agents/ image rights. So I’d imagine - and this is pure guesswork of course - he could be asking for anything between £300k-£350k a week, £ms in a signing on fee (£15m-£20m?), his agent will have huge demands and image rights stuff like last time. It’s something we could probably afford, but we’d then have to take into consideration how that’d go down with the likes of Kane/ Son etc, because if a new guy comes in on considerably more than them, I know that if I were in their shoes I’d be a bit peeved. 2 - he’s had his fair share of constant niggling injuries, nothing major from what I can see but still not ideal when looking at a potentially very, very expensive signing. 3 - he’ll be in incredibly high demand where we have to accept that even with a potential big offer from us plus Conte and Paratici’s pull, he could choose elsewhere similar as to what Kessie has seemingly done and what Adama did do, we offered a far better package than Barca yet Barca’s stature and appeal topped us, nothing we can do about that.
