Hmmm. I think we need to draw a rather hefty distinction between a player being an arse towards his erstwhile fans and owners being criminals or murderous tyrants.

Club made that decision and he tried to tell us
He did one of the kindest things I have seen on a football pitch
He had the goal at his mercy in the Gerrard slip game and he opted to pass it rather than finish the game himself
He knew what that goal meant
It was all he could do

    Rubbish :)

He went in and demanded the move.

    His agent approach chelsea

The fact is he was missing all over the place long before slippy mcslipface fell over his own ego.

Is there anything about football that you actually enjoy?

Well apart from the constant ****ing moaning.

I was actually quite intrigued when we bought Balotelli. I like people who are a bit outrageous - in a 'good' way. He never fitted and had a terrible work ethic but seeing him stopping and stroking stray cats and dogs and volunteering at a rescue shelter made him okay with me as a decent person.

I don't think you really want Chelsea burning down either. While I've got a different view than Bumps and Fool on the sanctions impacting the fans, I can acknowledge that the club was there long before the dodgy stuff started and like all football clubs it has served to enhance the lives of lots and lots of local people who don't deserve it to simply disappear (which it won't).

I think maybe sometimes you pay a lot of attention to what media outlets (respected - I don’t mean you listen to rumours) say and sometimes miss pure logic
If I recall right we had already bought Suarez (his replacement)
No way was it as last minute as played out
It was a show and Torres suggested as much at the time whilst away with Spain
What I would point out is FSG were never ones for over buying and Suarez came before Torres left didn’t he ?
And Torres was given assurances that the club didn’t follow up (not that I agree with those kind of arrangements but the club agreed to them - I think - to keep Torres the summer before he left)
Torres became dissatisfied under Roy didn’t he ?
I don’t believe FSG were wanting them both
Torres was sold for what ? 50m
Suarez 26m ? That smacks of how FSG work
I expect to similar with any of mane Salah or firmino although the club is in a slightly different position now with Klopp at the head

As a student of history I see a fascist state led by a guy who's ultimate goal will lead to wwiii.

I'd chelsea fc have to burn along side the yachts and every Russian asset to bring a general to his office with a gun then so be it.

Make no mistake the iron curtain is firmly slammed shut.

One of the reasons I've never had much interest in either politics or history - shame on me - is that it winds people up something cruel and you are left stewing in a mess that you have no control over and can do nothing about.

We didn't pay for suarez until torres was gone.

We were strongly linked from before the torres thing came up as people were talking torres sand suarez.

We certainly did not in any way but suarez prior to torres leaving

We had in effect a massive ****ing panic attack and went and bought Carroll is a massive flap.

BTW I beleive cheslea made 3 bids in all and we never intended him to go that January.

In effect we were seeking suarez for a lot less than 26mil

When chelsea finally dumped 50mil in (nearly 20mil more than first bid) we had no option. He walked in and said he wanted to go. He admitted as.much himself to "go win trophies"

The Carroll utter panic buy proves he was never intended to go but he forced it.

I thought Carroll came with Suarez
    I am not fussed anyway
    As I said
I never saw the Torres situation like that
Lots go on behind the doors
I am certain Torres wanted out as he was pissing the best years of his life under Roy Hodgson
I don’t like that attitude but I can understand it

the club refused 40m and could have refused 50m
The club took the offer cause at the time for the player we had on our hands it was crazy not to
Therefore the club made the final decision imho
    Just like Levy and Kane
The decision to keep him would have gone one way or tother but it was ultimately the club’s decision imho

We offered 30 on deadline day. Newcastle said no and then we bid 35 and the giggled at how stupid we were and accepted.

It's ultimately not the clubs decision when they are put up against the wall staring at that relegation line.

What goes on behind closed doors is absolutely unknown. I totally agree.

Imo you are putting too much store in Torres after retiring selling his story. He put a gun to the clubs head after we rejected a second bid.

What’s Torres got to gain from flat out lying?

Tbh it’s prob somewhere in the middle. The club wanted to move him on as they saw the injuries but at same time torres maybe knew club wasn’t going to win trophies soon and if he was deteriorating, he knew only had 1 more chance to move to a club that was challenging then and there.

There's always advantages in placating folk and making yourself look good.

If he went in may with us in 8th there'd be no issue. He walked in on the last day demanding to go having talked to the other club.

Genuinely didn’t read the story after but remember one of his interviews whilst in Spain where he simply said there was way more to the story than what we were told
He then held his silence until retired
    I respect the guy
And as said before he could have scored the second goal to end our title dreams
    And he did not
So I defo look at it differently

greatly appreciate the discussion though as no football for two weeks at this time of year is a nightmare lmao
