Morning, everyone. Hope we all well.

FISHCAKE, tomorrow, anyone??? No, no, no, no, no. I'm not taking lunch orders or indeed asking what we are planning to eat in just over 24 hours. I am, of course, talking about Lieutenant Henderson's 5YO mare who is set to make her hurdling bow (1.55 Plumpton).

I've waffled on about her quite a lot in the past so will try to keep it brief. The old girl is a half-sister to Monkfish (although was a relatively cheap purchase at €25,000 - Monkfish was a Grade 1 winner at this time). In finishing 7th on her racecourse debut (bumper at Wincanton last month) Fishcake didn't exactly set the world on fire but she wasn't beaten a huge distance that day (8 lengths) in what, at first glance, was probably an above average mares bumper.

Lieutenant Henderson opts not to give the old girl another run in a bumper instead wasting no time in getting her over hurdles. And stepping her up in trip by 5 furlongs. Probably won't be a betting proposition, of the morrow, but it will be Fascinating, with a capital 'F' to see how she fares.

Re her opponents they don't look the strongest bunch ever assembled but 2 of the 6 are already winners (Eavesdropping of both a bumper and a maiden hurdle and Valencia Borget a Point)

    Good luck all.

I know absurd suggestion. Don't know what came over me. Clearly the Steward forgot to put the T in my late morning GnT.

    13:45 Wincanton - Doyannie

(Game mare who always gives it her best shot. Drop back in trip to minimum distance is a plus in this Class-5 Novices' Handicap Chase. Lorcan Williams on board for the Jack Barber stable. 3/1 best price, generally-available, at time of writing)

    Southwell 1.00 Peur De Rhin

On a winning mark and its last win was at this time last year. Tom Cannon takes over from conditional Katie O'Farell. The Sherwood yard doesn't have a good season this year but it seems they have found a winnable race for the horse. Trip and ground should suit today.

That’s an awful race, if she can’t win that then want to be giving up with her and just breed.

Meanwhile, have you spotted the full sister to Edwardstone in the bumper today. I have backed against her but it will be interesting to see her.

Nope, although it did hurt me to oppose her. The Cantillon horse at 14/1 was just too big last night. One of my favourite bumper trainers and from a really nice family.

I wonder why Webber didn’t get Indelible Sin.

I've backed Kimberly Eve in the bumper. Way out of its depth last time but eye catching first run, wind surgery since and back to a more manageable race. 16/1.

Not worried that the mare is a bit long in the tooth these days? 4 year gap since Huntsman Jog, and has been a very productive mare before then.

Even worse now as a third of Fishcake's opponents are now non-runners (including the early fav - the above mentioned Eavesdropping). Race has deffo cut-up. Just a watching brief for me as Fishcake now gone very short in the market.

Hadn't noticed Edwardstone's (aka The Wiltshire Warrior) little sister. Thanks for highlighting her. Fascinating to see how she fares. Will certainly look out for her.

Re the stable's bumper horses have you got any thoughts on their easy recent winner, Ernest Gray. Is seemingly heading to Aintree with very high hopes.

Slow as a boat. Just fortunate the boats in behind capsized or had a hole in them the size of a blue Whale.

What a rank ride on the Cantillon horse, shuffled back, switched widest and never given a chance to run her best race.

Looks a really nice sort. That was a decent enough looking race at Warwick. I have no idea how much they paid for him but it must have been a pretty penny as Punchestown bumper winners dont come cheap.
I have often wondered how these Irish trainers decide which ones to sell and which ones to keep.
