Fantastic win and a superb performance. Romero is such a Rolls Royce at the back, so calm under pressure. Kane and Sonny obviously get the plaudits again but Bentacur was motm for me. What an elegant player he is. If we could get two top top wingbacks in the summer flanking Skippy and Bentacur we will be unstoppable at times.
Agree, Priority has to be the RWB and LWB positions. Doherty has massively improved but he’s still not at the level required. Reguilon sometimes looks amazing but then makes silly mistakes plus all the rumours of Madrid triggering his buyback clause etc. Emerson just isn’t a RWB and Sessegnon has the potential but it just doesn’t seem to be happening for him at Spurs
Actually some really good analysis on MOTD, I felt a lot more confident we would win watching the highlights!
They’re working really well together. It’s still a midfield that lacks genuine creativity but they are moving the ball forward a lot more in general and have the capability of an occasional creative pass, Hojbjerg could’ve had an assist yesterday and Bentancur bagged one the other night. In terms of grit, graft and competitiveness though, it’s well up there. I’m happy for Hojbjerg in particular, whilst he’s not the first name on the team sheet, I think he got a lot of unwarranted stick earlier in the season both on here and social media in general, I felt his issues stemmed from him trying too hard to the point where mistakes were creeping in especially when Skipp was out but now that Bentancur’s here he’s eased that pressure and workload and it’s suiting both players nicely. When Skipp’s back it’s three very solid options in that midfield, none who you feel would let you down. Most of the XI and some of the squad is starting to take shape under Conte, if we can get around 4-5 additions in the summer to cover a mix of first XI and squad positions, whilst also keeping Kane and Conte, I think we could be in for a very decent 22/23 season, nice to have some optimism back around the place for once.
Isn't the ref meant to stop play for a drop ball if he interferes with a passage of play, or is that only if the ball hits him rather than him taking a player out?
Should we call this 'Newton's day' (as relegation gravity cannot pull a club into the league below) ??
Really need CM who can keep hold of the ball in the MF melee, and can play fast incisive forward passes (which is what Spurs recently had during peak Pochettino era) .
