What a superb ride by Rachael Blackmore on A Plus Tard. Towards the rear most of the way, and entering the straight I didn't see how she could get through, but her greatest asset is patience. Squeezed through and that was that. This classy jumper absolutely stormed away up the hill. Congrats to trainer Henry de Bromhead too, of course!
Mullins has absolutely bossed it again today. A phenomenal training performance - 5 winners for 5 different owners. I wonder whether that gobshite O’Leary still thinks his training fees are too high?
Good grief, I am speechless so please excuse me, but it's the best last two Festival days I have ever had. The first two days you'd have thought I'd never seen a racehorse or racecourse in my life. Wow, got to catch my breath!
Shocking week for him and Davy Russell - especially in the handicaps where he had several supposed good things. Has the handicapper finally found a way to level things out? 5-4 to the Brits in the handicaps this week certainly reads better than last year. The Irish won the Championship races but with Constitution Hill, Edwardstone and L'Homme Presse there is at least a glimmer of hope for the British over the next few years. But Mullins is just different class, he has taken the training of horses to a different level. Seems like a very nice bloke too.
Sorry been at the course. Liam is a lovely lad and very good jockey, he’s got a massive future and massive well done to Ferg for letting him go to Cheltenham rather than Doncaster.
Ballygrifincottage 4th Freedom To Dream 4th Two places at great odds today (33/1) but with the exception of Facile Vega's victory (20/1) a very mediocre week for me especially if I compare it with last year.
Cheers mate had my biggest ever bet on it. Won't embarrass myself by saying how much. Pennies compared to the big hitters on here but very good end to a very good week.
Apologies, Smokey, you tipped the horse too, which put the icing on top for your fantastic week, well done indeed! It was remiss of me to forget this, but I have only just wound down after our horse's win in the last. . You know, it was the drying ground that did it, plus a fair bit of good fortune in running of course. His form and breeding indicated that decent going was what he needed. If the race had been on Wednesday I feel sure the gelding would not have won. Very well-ridden by the young amateur jockey. Here endeth my little hindsight additional comments! Keep up the great work, Smokey!
Fair play lads, well done on a great week and anyone who contributed thoughts and opinions either right or wrong over the four days. It's all about opinions and not being too despondent when it doesn't go your way. The input I always enjoy reading so keep it up. Not long out of bed this morning I am slightly ashamed to say, went out at 1 o clock to the local yesterday and had planned on being home for 7 or that...7 turned into 2 o clock this morning...long day, very shook today but was a great day. Local lad Sean O Keefe had a big winner for Mullins and needless to say half the place had it backed so the drink was flowing freely all day. All the best
