Peterborough and Derby are down just a case of how Barnsley and Reading finish but they’re probably going to have to win 3/4 games to make us worry and for us to not pick up any points at all. But 45 would see us clear easily yeah
I think so too, we'd have to have a run as bad as in 2019-20 to not reach that. However, this is City we're talking about and they never give us an easy ride!
Yes 44 or 45 is the target, that puts us out of reach of the bottom three unless Barnsley go on a miraculous run far in excess of what they have already achieved in recent weeks.
For the foreseeable, Slater starts ahead of Docherty imo. Slater just looks better than Doc in terms of passing, ball control, composure on the ball, vision, movement etc. Only thing Doc has going for him right now is his work-rate but Slater is hardly lazy either. I just don’t see what he offers. When he came on, our shape looked infinitely worse and we looked nervous and sat deep.
Don't disagree but was it really Docs impact or maybe a combo of say Cov pushing harder / more direct, tired legs after huge effort, other changes )for us and them)?
Here’s a question for those who may know footballers progress in skills , can you coach Doch composure and touch at his age ? He’s made it this far , he’s very solid and muscled so maybe needs to adjust his rushing things- like my golf downswing !!!!
Short answer yes. Long answer it can be limited. Hence why some players stay at certain levels and some progress like Bowen and Robertson
I was hoping you’d reply I agree but over the years I could never understand why so many younger players didn’t work on their weaknesses - is it poor coaching or poor self determination - if you’ve got a player with just one major weakness missing shouldn’t a good coach help and focus on it ?
It's again a mixture, limited coaches never move up either or you get coaches like potter. mix that with limited players and or no drive from the player and some players just "plod" along thinking they have made it ( James Scott is a perfect example of someone who got a decent move for decent money and has just let it go to their head, as that boy has/had a frightening amount of talent and potential. He just hasn't used it )
