How wonderful would it be if KANSAS CITY CHIEF were to win the Pertemps

I can't help thinking the horse who finished 5th in the qualifier won by Kansas City Chief has been absolutely smuggled into it by Elliott ................

Ground is going to smash many of the early bets for Thursday and Friday as it did today with Shishkin.

I would be absolutely delighted as I have twice seen him gallop over the line. I will certainly be having a small wager at a big price.

    Thursday
Toughest day yet and not overly confident about making a profit
2:10 BORN PATRIOT I reckon they have had this race on the radar all season. Yard normally have a Festival winner every year.
3:30 ROYAL KAHALA not the most experienced runner in the field but will relish the conditions.
4:10 STOLEN SILVER beaten favourite last time but finished full of running and looks good value at the prices
4:50 IMPERVIOUS first defeat last time out but that was on quickish ground, tomorrows test much more suitable.
5:30 COME ON TEDDY only a novice but improving all the time, good jockey booked.

All about Fergals two big chances tomorrow. Alaphillipe and Imperial Alcazar both have chances and I think the ground won’t bother either. I find it tough to pick one in the stayers hurdle because of the ground and whilst I expect Allaho to win, I can’t be backing at the prices.

The last race could be a right old slog, so which horse is a national type for the future? Fakir could easily be that horse.

I love Imperial Alcazar. I really hope he runs a big one.

2.10 - Winter Fog @13/2. Is just about a price I'm content with backing in an event like this. Like most in the race, is said to have been " laid out" for it. Booking of Paul Townend is a plus. Being trained by Emmet Mullins expect to see a market move again if this is really fancied.

2.50 - Janidil @12/1. Got to take the favourite on at that price. I think there's plenty here that can get involved, Conflated offers an interesting uptake after his most recent success. Shan Blue could go well on the ground and I feel if it all cuts up at on the front end then Janidil could be staying on nicely to pick them all up late on.

4.10 - Imperial Alcazar @11/2. Something I have always liked about this horse that catches my eye visually. I've always felt he is much more than a handicapper and I am hoping he can show that here by winning yet again at Cheltenham.

    Have a good one

I've made my selections today based on which horses I think will relish the conditions. I'm out in Liverpool for Paddy's day, the races and unfortunately I'll be mixing with the Newcastle fans descending on Merseyside for tonight's game.

2.10. Alaphilippe and Dunboyne both have winning form on heavy and should get the trip. Couer Serein could run well at a big price.

3.350. I can't back Klassical Dream after it's last performance, nor could I back a Henderson horse (Champ) in these conditions. Royal Kahala was hugely impressive on her last run but would need to step up again to take this. I'm going with Flooring Porter who should enjoy these conditions and can get back to last seasons form.

3.30. Imperial Alcazar was very impressive last up and the ground will be no problem. Admirel has bags of ability but seems to be very hit and miss. I like the look of Grand Paradis, I think Elliott has him on a nice mark and he could be tough to beat in these conditions.

Soft heavy in places. Don’t go too extreme on the mudlarks would be my guess.

shambles really how much guesswork we have to do about the ground and conditions in general.

I think Ballyandy has a cracking chance in the Pertemps. He will love the ground and absolutely hosed up at Chepstow last time. The lad on his back takes off a very useful 10lbs and can hopefully cope with the demands of the race.

Happy St Patrick's Day Ste mate - I can see the Irish getting off to a good start in the Golden Miller (why does no one call it that? You win 5 consecutive Gold Cups and they drop your name in favour of the sponsors) <laugh> <doh>

Stickler I was just sitting here thinking the same. It’s a better race than he’s used to, but he has the right profile for the race.

Being a sentimental ol fool i’d like to see Thyme Hill and Melon prevail today. Also mudlark Adrimel should do well in the underfoot conditions and I’ll take Omar Merritti for Alex Hales in the lucky last. That’s a decent ew L15. Good luck all

1:30 - Two horse race put both in my scoop 6 line. left both out of my multiple. Have put all 4 in a forecast and trifecta on the off chance one of the main two fail to fire.
2:10 - Born Patriot 16/1 (8 places skybet). Alaphillipe 11/2 (free bet with PP). Coeur Serein 33/1 (7 places free bet with WH). Third Wind 22/1 (7 places Tom O'Brien EW patent/treble)
2:50 - Allaho. Have it at 5/1 ante post but its in a multiple and is the only leg left standing so only worth pennies and pretty pointless. Also got it in a 'special' double with Concertista tomorrow. Both to win at 8/1.
    3:30 - Flooring Porter 4/1 (4 places skybet). Thyme Hill 9/2 (3 places WH Tom O'brien EW patent/treble)
    4:10 - Coole Cody 20/1 (6 places skybet). Imperial Alcazar 5/1 (free bet with bet365). Cellebre D'Allen 9/2 (5 places WH Tom O'Brien EW patent/treble)
    4:50 - Grangee 8/1 (5 places skybet)
    5:30 - Omar Maretti 10/1 (6 places skybet). Mindsmadeup 40/1 (Ew single 6 places bet365).

With the exception of Allaho the first mentioned ones above are my scoop 6/placepot/lucky 31 horses.

Happy St Patricks day and best of luck to you all.
