Santon HAS to play RB and not LB
He seems to be getting slated on here today but i personally thought he did alright
His winger never got round him like on the opposite side

My problem is when he is at LB on the overlap he cant go past then whip them in
He is right footed. Play the guy on the right and get rid of our useless danny simpson
Santon looked lively going forward but had to check back everytime to either lay off or try cross in with his right.
It killed him because the full knew where he was gna go every time

The other point is how good is Demba Ba. Im sorry the guy was immense on his own up there, zero help from ben arfa who didnt look interested at all ( i know he's just come back he needs time before you go mad )
The lad never stopped running caused the defence all kinds of problems and deserved a goal.

Final point is Steven Taylor. We just missed him tonight plain and simple
He is our ball winner and his presence and command is vital to the way we defend, i thoroughly believe had he have been playing in place of pech we would have won the game.

My views feel free to disagree :)

Oh one more thing i think danny guthrie was awesome looked confident and our best player with the ball used it very well

Looks like we were robbed by the referee and I don't think we should get too down about this result to be honest. The two Taylors and Tiote have been key for us in the past few games and it is understandable as to why we weren't on top form last night. The back four will hopefully go back to normal against Stoke with maybe Santon coming in for Simpson ( I hope but it won't happen). I think we could give Stoke a real go, our pace could be deadly on the break!

I still think he's a right winger, only NUFC would sign him as a left back <laugh>

Santon reallty isn't two footed as he has been hyped up to be. As the OP said he always cut back which slowed our play down. I agree that we should keep Raylor left-back and put Santon right-back. I'm getting sick of Simpson.

Santon is a right back by trade but I think the club couldn't pass up the opportunity to get one of the best young full backs around in for a very reasonable fee. He can do a job on the left. I've said all along I expect they'll sign a left back at some point and switch him. I've watched a fair bit of him and he is definetly more comfortable at RB. That's where he plays for the 21's.

Yeah, Santon is a RB who can cover LB if needed. Drop Simpson and keep Raylor at LB.

This. Really hope we go for someone like Pieters/Cisscoco.. but knowing us we'll buy Ridgewell and play him at LB. <doh>

Why are people saying Santon should be switched over to RB because he is right footed when our current LB is right footed anyway?

I think there is not much in it between Raylor and Simpson so I do not care which one of them gets dropped, I just want Santon to play because he is clearly on a different level to them, I do not mind if it is RB or LB although I want him to pretty much stay on one side and not keep getting switched.

Agree that Ba was awesome, that we missed Taylor a lot and that Santon should be right back

Becuase Santon has the ability and pace to go past someone down the line and into the box

Ryan taylor cant get past anyone to cross on his strong foot, so can put it on his right foot and cross from deep on the left that is why he would be better there
By putting santon on the left you kill what he is good at

Simpson is awful hope to god he goes in january

No we're saying he is a right back and therefore the sooner he plays there the better. I said this when he signed him but some people were insisting he was equally talented in both roles or he was a left back. He is a right back who can play left back. The club expected him to play left back because we did not have one. They had not counted on raylor excelling in that role. He'll end up at right back so we might aswell start playing him there now. As you say its better than keep switching.

My thoughts exactly. Ultimately he'll be our long term right back. Hopefully we'll bring a proper left footed left back in January.
