The are plenty of people of colour and different religions in Ukraine, They are not all Aryan looking. At the end of the day they are human beings and are in need of help. People need to stop looking for angles in this. This country has helped out many people from many places.

 

How are they different from those risking their lives trying to get here in small boats, then? They're in need of help, too. I applaud you and your wife for volunteering Ellers, I'm just trying to understand why people in this country seem to have different attitudes to the two groups of people.

I hope you'll keep us informed as to how your application progresses. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that it could be months before you're able to welcome anyone into your home, if at all.

 

I don’t want to get into the debate of why one group of people and not another. It’s not important now.
Of course I will keep you all posted and if all goes well I will post pictures ( if okay), however I do agree with your points that this could take sometime. We could be ready in a week but it may not be as simple as that. Our government has been slow to act but they seem to be moving faster now.

 

@Quite Possibly Raving have you read Finkelstein’s column today? Interested in your views. He seems to be saying it’s great that we have made London a haven for corruptly stolen Russian money because now we have something to hit Putin with.

 

I saw Rees-Mogg doing the rounds the other day glorying in the fact that Britain had frozen more Russian assets than anyone else. The fact that this was only possible because we were home for all their dirty money in the first place seemed to have escaped him.

He’s a modern day Tory Boy quite active on Twitter. Yesterday evening he was arguing that sending unsolicited pictures of one’s privates shouldn’t be a crime and that the ‘dating’ websites he frequents are full of such images by way of initial introduction to other parties.
