I'm actually going to Cheltenham tomorrow (and again Thursday). It will be my first time at the Festival for 13 years (although have been to, a handful, of 'other' Cheltenham meets in the interim). Long time and not sure what to expect as a result but really, really looking forward to it.

Highlights, for me personally, will be the Champion Chase, tomorrow, and the Pertemps Final on Thursday. More plots than an Agatha Christie novel and all that...

Good luck with your selections for the rest of the week.

They will let anyone into the racecourse these days. Place is going to the dogs.

Two tricky handicaps today in the Coral Cup and Grand Annual.

I've narrowed the Coral Cup down to 3 - two of JP McManus' runners - The Shunter and Drop The Anchor - plus Gowel Road. The Shunter won the Morebattle bonus last year after taking Kelso's big handicap hurdle off 135 then following up in the Plate. He was then bought by JP and finished a fine 3rd to Koshari and Ciel de Neige in May. He is clearly a spring horse who has been kept back for this and 148 ought to be within his scope. Drop The Anchor finished 7th in this last year and goes off a 3lb lower mark today. He has been running over shorter but finished to good effect over 2 miles last time out and should be competitive back up in trip. Gowel Road won over course and distance back in November and finished a good 2nd to Metier at Lingfield last month. He is a young improver who should relish the step back up in trip on a sounder surface.

In the Grand Annual I love the front-running Editeur Du Gite (but why doesn't Niall Houlihan ride?) and also think Andy Dufresne will run a big race. Further down the weights I think Il Ridoto could go well off 143.

Otherwise I've done a yankee and 4-timer on Sir Gerhard, Bravemansgame, Shishkin and Facile Vega.

    Best of luck everyone.

Good point. I was at Peterborough once when whole pack of foxhounds did a “meet and greet”.

I remember the uproar on Twitter last year when the dogs weren't shown on the coverage before the race formerly known as the Foxhunters. It'll be a sad day for the hunt crew if they don't appear and have a hack down the course.

1:30 SIR GERHARD sadly I had him backed for yesterdays race but he may have dodged a bullet there!
2:10 LHOMME PRESSE has done very little other than impress all season and can take down the favourite.
2:50 GRAND ROI has got in on a handy enough mark and I like the jockey booking
3:30 SHISKIN to beat Energumene in another titanic battle.
4:10 DELTA WORK classy animal and this discipline could suit him very well
4:50 SKY PIRATE but its more heart than head. I do think GLOBAL CITIZEN is a bit of value for EW purposes.
5:30 FACILE VEGA drifting but I think we could be hailing the next superstar at 5:40. Had an each way on TOP DOG with 8 places as a saver.

    Good luck to you all

had my most successful opening day of Cheltenham ever yesterday, so hoping for another good one today.

1.30 SIR GERHARD will probably win but this will be competitive.
Stage Star was an impressive Challow Hurdle winner and represents possibly the biggest danger.
The unbeaten Journey with me another serious contender.
2.10 I have been so impressed with BRAVEMANSGAME and cant see him losing today.
If he does then I think it will be to L'Homme Presse who has been equally flawless this season, but I think the Nicholls horse will have too much today
2.50 Lots of possibles. I have narrowed it down to THE SHUNTER and UNEXPECTED PARTY. DANS LE VENT at 33/1 an each way bet at a bigger price
3.30 SHISKIN emerged the winner in the Ascot duel with Energumene and can confirm the placings today to prove he is the superstar of the sport right now.
NUBE NEGRA now at 18/1 the each way bet
4.10 If I could hope for one winner this week it would be TIGER ROLL in the Cross Country. Hopefully he can hold off the class of Delta Work.
    PRENGARDE the each way alternative
4.50 ANDY DUFRESNE a worthy favourite. EDITEUR DU GITE has good course form
5.30 I was a huge fan of the Queen of Cheltenham, Quevega so of course i must tip her son FACILE VEGA to land the bumper

1:30 - Sir Gerhard (like everyone else no doubt, have it in accas and specials). I Am Maximus 14/1 Ew ( money back with skybet if 2,3,4,5). Whatdeawant 40/1 ew (antepost)
    2:10 - L'Homme Presse 7/2 (4 places skybet)
2:50 - Gowel Road 17/2 (8 places skybet). Dans Le Vent 33/1 (7 places, free bet with bet365). Daly Tiger 80/1 (6 places, free bet with WH)
3:30 - Shishkin 5/6 (also in many ante post multiples and specials). Put The Kettle On 16/1 (antepost EW lucky 15).
4:10 - Tiger Roll 2/1 (5 places skybet. Also in some multiples). Diesel D'Allier 11/1 Ew (5 places skybet).
4:50 - Before Midnight 12/1 (6 places skybet). For Pleasure 22/1 Ew (6 places skybet). Gumball 20/1 Ew (6 places, free bet with PP).
5:30 - Facile Vega 13/8 (4 places skybet. Also in various multiples and specials. Also ante post win bet at 20/1).

The ones mentioned first from the 2:10 onwards are also my Scoop6/Ew lucky 63/placepot selections.

    Good luck all.
