They've now withdrawn their request to have Boro game played behind closed doors........ Apparently they told the BBC the following as part of a longer statement.... BBC Sport has been told Chelsea never thought it was likely the Football Association would agree to their request. However, it was done to try to get the government to understand the complexities around the predicament they are in. They really don't get it that the predicament is entirely of their own making by helping the owner launder his money through the football club and now the chickens are coming home to roost.........
The Government, the FA and anyone who ever cared to question has known it’s dirty Russian money for years. In the same way we know that every 5th shop in Cyprus, which seem to be retailers of high end fur coats, are also money laundering mechanisms for Russians. What is appalling is that it’s taken Putin’s acts of evil and madness for the reality of what these oligarchs really are to only now finally be recognised or cause any concern. How about some nice hefty FFP burdens levied on Chelsea too. At least the money we allegedly overspent on our team (for which we seem the only team heavily penalised) wasn’t stolen from the state.
