i put a few bets on arsenal on Lacazette to score etc, but he was not fit checked with William hill and i don't get a refund why ? surely a bet is void if he does not make the squad/bench.

What exactly were your bets Monty?

If you done any singles on Lacazette, you will get your money refunded.

If you done a scorecast then because Lacazette didn't play the stake just goes on to the correct score instead.

Yeah, love going. Will be at York next week and booked up for Cheltenham and Royal Ascot next year (both carried over due to the cancellations from this year and Ascot last year as well).
Go to quite a few local meetings as well. How about you?

I'm not a big fan of flat meetings so unless it's a special occasion for somebody and I've been invited, I'll generally stay clear. My next meeting is going to be the fighting fifth at Newcastle in November. I was at Brian Ellisons yard a few weeks back with a mate of mine who's owned a couple of horses with him before. I'm looking to take the leap into ownership before long...

How do you go about owning one mate?

You just need to register with the BHA and go along to the sales. You'll need deep pockets, though.

The alternative is to join one of the hundreds of syndicates thats about and buy a share into a horse. That's mainly for interest and for the information you'll get about how the horse is schooling and which races it is being entered in (and its chances ;) ) There's usually hundreds buy into those sort of syndicates so you'll see very little return, if any at all. You'll pay a small monthly fee towards its upkeep but you'll not be invoiced for any vet bills or anything like that.

Yeah you would have just had them scores on as your bet without a goalscorer. Life can be cruel but always wait until an hour before kick off when the teams are announced before you place goalscorer bets...

I like both but must admit Cheltenham is my favourite. Been to the late Malcolm Jeffersons, Michael Dods and Richard Father's stables (Father's a couple of times to see a horse (Swiss Belle) I had a very small share in through the Racegoers club. She won at Wolverhampton first time out and I got to see her run 4th at Beverley as an owner, which was great. She got an injury not long after and had to be retired. Dream is to own a horse(s) outright and go to see it/them run at one of the big meetings.

The horses we are looking to buy aren't to race under us, that will come later. At the moment, we are looking for a good yearling or two that we can move on 6 months later at the breeze up sales.

I prefer Cheltenham over the National now. They've sold that event out to the animal protestors. Last year when Minellla Times won it was just like watching any other steeplechase that'll pop up now and again throughout the season, it's lost its magic, imo. I've heard a lot of good things about Michael Dods... Another trainer I'd be interested to meet is Alice Haynes. She's just starting out in her training career but the early signs are she is going to be very succesful. She bought a few horses that hadn't been firing to start off and she's turned a few of them into winners, now. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Good luck with the buying/selling, sounds exciting and a great idea.
Agree about the National. Only been 3 times, 1984 when it was more like the National, 2010 when McCoy rode his only National winner, when I vowed never to go back. However, it is my mates favourite race, so persuaded to go back 2017, which will definitely be my last. Everything about it felt false.
Visits to Jefferson and Dods stables were great, both had time to speak, as did their wives and also spoke to Paul Mulrennan at Dods stable, who was a real gentleman.
However, Richard Fahey was nowhere to be seen on either visit (I was advised this would be the case by one the other guys in the syndicate). Left an impression that only interested in big owners so wouldn't have a horse with him if I ever get the chance.
Must admit, not really heard of Alice Haynes, but will have a look in the future.
Good luck again with your venture

I am normally down for the last couple of days for the Ebor meeting but due to circumstances beyond my control (our lass being poorly) I cannot get there this year. Bloody gutted.

    @The Arnhem Bridge

Do you still fancy Dynamo today? I remember you backing him at 8s, he’s now 9/4.

I’ve had some money on him, I owe you a pint if he comes in mate.
