To be fair we’ve got a great young trio on Dunne, Field and Willock. I think they call that a decent spine. A fiery young striker would definitely complete the line up.
Looked at the replays and I have to say I can't see any reason why the goal should not have been allowed. Willock How can a corner taker be interfering with play after he has taken the corner kick assuming the ball is not passed back to him which it wasn't. He's done his bit and is irrelevant from that point on when it reaches the six yard box and ends up in the net. Amos That one is more debateable. However he wasn't on the goalie throughout - he moved towards him after the Luton defender had moved away presumably following the flight of the ball. The goalie was caught off guard but most importantly neither the goalie nor any of the Luton defenders. protested. Call me cynical if you like but it is unheard of in a professional football match for players not to complain about fouls, obstructions and other skulduggery when they've been slapped with a feather duster. The silence is deafening in this case and lack of complaint points clearly to the goal being good. Penalty? I thought it was at the time. Slo mo does make it look as though he made the most of it but he'd have to be pretty quick-witted or dumb (not sure which) to dive then instead of having a free run towards the goal. The ref doesn't have the benefit of an action replay or VAR replay in the Championship and it looked like an unlucky tripping up as the player fell to the ground. Interesting that our man Nathan Jones had no complaints about any of these incidents.
Great result today, I was just about to post that we'll nick this 2-1 when we scored and made it two one. Not a great first half performance but we got there in the end against the most bitter manager in the league. Tallyho !
Yes and Luton players, Bench and fans seem to appeal for everything that we won so that they accepted both goals without complaint says a lot.
Ossie, are you pissed? When the ball came off Dickie's back Amos was impeding the keeper in an offside position on the goal line. Clearly offside as he was right in front of the keeper with his arm across him. Having said that, who gives a ****? We get so many poor decisions against us that we're due many more like this one.
I'm baffled as to how the corner taker has anything to do with this. In my opinion, VAR would have disallowed the goal for offside and definitely allowed the penalty. Anyway, we won. 3 points. Lovely jubbly.
Yeah Willock is nothing to do with any offside but Amos should have been flagged. But we scored the only legitimate goal of the game so idc. An hour between the game finishing and getting back to the car after being kettled around Luton. Genuinely think I’d rather chance living in Odessa.
I don't think Amos is big enough to impede anyone, well apart from Chair. But also I dont remember ever seeing an offside given from direct corner.
I too have never seen an offside given from a corner, possibly because technically the corner taker is further up the pitch and it’s therefore classed as a backward pass maybe !!
What the hell has happened to our form? Don't get me wrong, the last 7 minutes yesterday were a joy. But before that, we were utter garbage. Long aimless balls continually overhit for a goalkick, simple passes misplaced. No threat, no pace, nowt. I thought we were atrocious against Blackburn but this was on another level. But it's funny how the result can overshadow everything that went before. Hopefully, the win will inject some much needed confidence. But if we play like that against Forest, it could be embarrassing. I just can't figure out why we've dropped off so alarmingly.
What's happening!!!!? No one, anywhere, ever, is suggesting that Willock was involved in an offside of any description. Amos was offside AFTER the original corner kick was flicked on by Dickie. Amos was stood right in front of the keeper with his arm across him. This is offside as he was impeding the keeper. As I've said though, we're due many more decisions to go our way after the amount we've had the other way.
