Getting to see the sending off replays now. Really poor technique, no malice, under the current rules (as far as I understand them, and with rugby Union that’s always a challenge) had to be a red. Argument is with the rules, not the decision I think. Shame, but I suspect England are playing with more spirit because of it, though tiredness has to tell the longer this goes on.
Lot of skulldugery in the scrums..... for Healy to go forward so quickly as loose head the England tight head has to be pulling him backwards hence the scrum wheeling so much as there is no way that Furlong goes backwards that quickly....... Ref as usual has no clue about scrums
England by far the better team. In truth Ireland are awful mainly due to English pressure. we deserve nothing out of this. I’m very very impressed with England’s performance
Well, I think that was eventually inevitable, the English team must be exhausted. If nothing else though this England team are immensely more likeable from my perspective as a result of this performance, even if the floodgates open against us now. Huge spirit, a lot of unorthodox defence, and **** me, we haven’t given too many stupid penalties away.
Not a classic in terms of pure rugby, but superb entertainment. England killed by the poor red card decision.
Did it at the death, well done. If England play with that spirit and focus, and with 15 players, next week, we might do you a favour. Enjoy the drinks!
Great heart by the England players but the fact is poor discipline has cost England two possible wins, Scotland (Cowan Dickie) and now Ewels. Well done Ireland anyway, got the job done.
England were magnificent for 70 minutes they just couldn't keep it going for the last 10 minutes.... scoreline doesn't do justice to the game, would have been a hell of a lot closer if England had kept 15 players on the pitch..... they're be an awful lot of sore bodies on both sides in the morning...
England were the better team, no doubt at all ye should be proud. No celebrations here. Pretty poor performance and result with an extra man
Ireland won deservedly, but it could have been a nail biting classic 15 v 15 We'll see if we can do you a favour against France
