Great thread as usual @RTB Can't see anything other than a comfortable home win. Stay in second gear, 2-0....up the tempo and go for it from the off, 5-0. Defoe to score.
I think this tactic is called the balls for glory approach. As you say get the ducking ball at their end of the pitch and play the game there. This pucking about at the back drive me nuts. Simple game just play it at their end not ours. Great post mate!!
Be good to see Defoe get a goal. So far he has looked short of the sharpness needed, but that is hardly surprising. Neil is doing a good job of giving him and others a chance to at least be fit enough to contribute, if they are good enough. I am hoping Neil and Doyle come back rested and back at their exceptional levels of the first half of the season. Same for Clarke and Robertd getting minutes in the legs and brain. Neil is so far doing well at trying to get players at their right level.
I have been thinking this morning about our options up front, if Stewart was sidelined or needed to be rested (which he is well entitled too imo.,as for his first season at this level he has been phenomenal ). A line up of Matete and O/9 / Clarke, Broadhead and Roberts / Defoe as a false nine ? playing in front of our back four might be worth a try. it certainly has goals potential and we could have an awesome bench from the players not involved to alter the formation, utilising or utility players in switching to a back 3 if required. I have promoted the idea of a back 3 all season against a lot of opposition, and was delighted when AN showed its practicality against Fleetwood , and turned probable defeat into victory. OaU
I'm just hoping we start on the front foot and pin them back, will get the crowd and momentum going straight from the off. The tippy tappy at the back ****e can come when we are 3 or 4 up
Morning Fell I was typing the above before reading your post , I want to see Embo, Neil and Doyle on the pitch soon, but I think today could be a chance to do something radical , we wont get many more chances, sincerely hoping I am not underestimating the opposition here.
Morning mate, I agree with you. Today should be a chance to try out things. I would like to see Neil alongside Matete, although I think Matete is 1 yellow card away from a ban? Maybe give Hume a game and Winchester in the middle with Neil. Could Broadhead and Defoe play and Stewart be rested, I would be wary that ee wont have any threat from crosses there? Maybe ONien could play higher as he is good in the air. Dajaku as well maybe? Loads of options is great for everyone.
I'm all for Defoe starting ,that if its correct and if Broadhesd is fit to start maybe have Ross on the bench just in case. Would like too see others rested to-day scoreline permitting.
Great thread again RTB cant see anything but a win, and our posters have covered just about every aspect there is, well done
That line up will do me as its an attacking line up , Evans is the only concern tbh. surely Hume Neil Embleton or Doyle and are better options , and the non appearance of Broadhead is a concern.
