Blackpool v Swansea City

Competition - Sky Bet Championship
Venue - Bloomfield Road
Date - 12 March 2022
Kick off - 3:00pm

Following their hugely disappointing defeat at the hand of runaway Championship leaders Fulham, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a tricky looking trip to Lancashire to face Blackpool.

On Tuesday evening, Fulham extended their lead at the top of the Championship to 14 points by beating a Swansea side that had started strongly but has been reduced to 10 men when Ryan Manning was sent off at the end of the first half for a foul on Harry Wilson.

Aleksandar Mitrovic put Fulham ahead 14 seconds into the second half, before Ben Cabango's own goal made it two.

Bobby Decordova-Reid added a third and, after Joel Piroe headed in for Swansea, Neco Williams struck Fulham's fourth before unleashing a stunning fifth.

As a result of this defeat, the Swans remain 16th in The Championship.

Last Saturday, Josh Bowler snatched a late winner on his 23rd birthday with his third goal in as many games to earn Blackpool victory at Stoke.

There were just four minutes of normal time left when the midfielder exchanged passes with Jerry Yates before firing past Jack Bonham.

It was a rare moment of magic in a dour game, in which Josh Maja hit the post for Stoke in the first half. Both sides' league positions remain unchanged, with Blackpool in 14th and Stoke a place behind.

The Swans have played Blackpool on 44 previous occasions, winning 13, losing 14 and drawing 17.

The last time the Swans visited Bloomfield Road was for a Championship fixture in March 2010 - when they were 5th in the table and Blackpool 7th - and ended up on the wrong end of a 5-1 thumping: Cedric Van Der Gunn netting an 84th minute consolation.

Turning to Saturday, the Swans will welcome back Cyrus Christie and could well have Ryan Manning available if his appeal is successful - personally, I think he will lose his appeal, meaning that there is a risk that his 4 match ban could be increased to 5.

Given that the Swans were very much in the game against Fulham until Manning’s dismissal changed the complexion of the match, I’m hopeful that the Swans will return to South Wales with a point. 1-1 <cheers>

Thanks Taff. I am hoping Tuesday's result will have a galvanising effect on the team. I am hopeful for this one with Christie returning. There is no way Manning will win his appeal so maybe we will see Burns back in the side. It's a 2-1 win to the Swans.

I kinda remember those boots, but I can't remember the brand. I'm googling at the moment to find out what they were.
Any ideas ?
