Away fans cant buy tickets now. I understand not wanting Abramovich to profit but why not just make the tickets free instead of giving his team even more home advantage and penalizing away supporters. Could even force them to sell food and drink inside the ground for cost price if they going after his profits #Cheap pies on Sunday for the Toon.
I did wonder about this when I heard about the license rules. Wasn't sure if any of the tickets for our game down there would have been sold yet or not. I am guessing they will say that any advantage from no away fans will be outweighed by the disadvantages of other measures.
Surely the PL could step in or the government and offer them funds in replacement for their losses. Why we should all have to suffer to make Russia suffer is beyond me
This is the PL's fault. Roman has been banned from the UK for a long time now, how the **** that constitutes a "fit and proper" owner is mystifying.
• Chelsea fixtures will be fulfilled • Only people who already have tickets to upcoming matches at Stamford Bridge can attend • Contracted staff and players will continue to be paid • Mr Abramovich cannot profit from the sale of his club ___________________________________________________________________ so that means there will be Toon fans there ?
What's the betting that @Mick O'Toon has already booked his flight and hotel in London and was planning on purchasing his ticket tomorrow.
They'll be talking about us next. Just you watch. Guaranteed they'll find a way to shoe-horn our takeover into this narrative.
Holding on to our Man Utd - Chelsea tickets for 15th May. It could be the last chance Chelsea fans have to see their team play away. Reckon I can fund my trip to Newcastle the same day and buy season tickets for next year.
It is different though. They are owned by someone linked to a government bombing the hell out of civilians in a neighbouring country.
Quite simply because we are part of a global society. Trade deals span the globe, as does media, sport and culture. So when one of those global cogs stops playing by the rules it affects everyone else. Consequences being bigger the more global influence a state has. Of course governments can step into help, see France with price caps of 4% increase in energy prices and grants to the population to help them with even that small increase. Our government believes in free market forces and little government oversight so hasn't done this and is unlikely to help out Chelsea
I doubt much would come of that. Saudi Arabia is the UK's primary trading partner in the Middle East and the UK is Saudi Arabia's closest European ally or so wiki says. In fact on Sunderlands 'embarrassing mags' thread they posted about the journo asking Eddie Howe about Saudis getting 'looked at' because of Russia. The Journo tried to compare Russia and Saudi because both involved in conflict with neighbouring countries. What the Journo and anti nufc brigade perhaps don't know is that UK,USA & France actually have reportedly aided Saudi's coalition with intelligence and logistical support in its Yemen conflict. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-29319423 So UK would have to sanction ITSELF plus the Americans and French as well? Anyway i I reckon all this makes it far less likely Saudis get sanctioned.
