I'm curious what would happen if we shot a plane down and Russia declared war on UK. Would article 5 be invoked, surely it would have to be, but what if NATO chickened out and said UK started it? Ignoring nuclear weapons... Unfortunately Russia pretty much out numbers the UK 5 to 1 for most thing military (aircraft, tanks, troops, etc). Aircraft would probably be most important numbers here... Russia wouldn't and couldn't launch a land invasion of the UK but it could become an air war. Russia hugely outnumbers the UK, but they haven't been doing too great against Ukraine, and with Ukraine's assistance on the ground we probably could hold Russia back if they start a fight with us for air supremacy... Would probably be at huge cost though, and might encourage Russia to use more deadly weaponry and missiles that they've been holding back. If they do that, our air force might be toast- missiled to oblivion
Putin just keeps threatening, it needs to be dealt with, he wouldn't expect the UK to go it alone, he'll lob one over to us, and we lob one into his Moscow bunker, problem sorted and everyone else can live it peace, look at it like the UK doing everyone a favour, while everyone else cowered.
I wonder if baby Mao has considered mischievously dropping a bomb on Russia and watching gleefully as Russia and the West destroy each other and China is left as the world's sole power. Of course Nuclear Winter would suck for the Chinese but they could warm themselves burning western bodies.
It would push Putin into going nuclear, because there’s no way he could fight a war against NATO and Ukraine by conventional means. Our best strategy regarding trying to help Ukraine to protest their air space is to supply them with anti aircraft systems. We use one called sky sabre, I’d hope we’re supplying Ukraine with those systems
Funnily enough I watched the film WarGames a few days ago . I had seen it was recommended by Chief , I had seen it before . Brilliant film , can someone PLEASE get all the world leaders to watch it together ?
Classic film that. Also highlights the dangers of miscalculation when the nuclear convo is banded around
I don't like the way Putin is holding everyone to ransom, just not in my nature to tolerate something like that. There is no way Putin would ever expect us to go it alone. It would throw his thinking and narratives into turmoil. Yeah, he could lob a big one over, but we could also lob one back. For every country Putin takes on independently it weakens his military might, he knows how NATO thinks, we need to play a different game, he might win the war with us, but his own people would ask what the fook have you done. Putin wouldn't want a broken Russia, he's trying to make it stronger, we need to throw him some dilemma's back and for those around him to think oh this isn't quite going to plan. The Americans can do what they always do, arrive late to the party.
Things would look very different without nuclear weapons. Russia couldn't take on NATO conventionally... But threatening to serve us nukes for supper makes everyone a little bit more hesitant. He's probably bluffing because he doesn't want nuclear war either, but that's not something you want to gamble on and get wrong.
I never gamble, I just make crazy decisions, we need to go toe to toe with him mate, but you'll be safe over in the states, and I'll just recycle a dingy and go to France, while ashes are remaining where Archers use to water his cabbages.
I have high hopes for my strawberries this year, not sure how getting dowsed in plutonium might affect them tbh.
If super hero movies are to be believed, exposing anything to nuclear radiation just makes them bigger and stronger.
