They've confirmed root as captain for next tests.

    Mistake imo.

But I suppose there are no actual candidates as there are literally no decent players ;)

Shocking and very sad :( RIP

Warne and Muri rewrote the rule book on spin bowling in the 90's and 00's..........remarkable bowler and legend of the game.

That first Ashes delivery v Gatting is a truly iconic moment in cricket.

Not very knowledgeable about cricket, though I played for a team in the Cheshire League for a time was not one to follow the sport like I do with football.

Was Shane Warne the one who came out with the great reply when he was being sledged by an English player whilst batting. The English player said "Hey, Warney why are you so fat" and Warne replied "Every time I shag your wife she gives me a biscuit"

Came across as a really nice bloke by all accounts on the tv in his commentary. Good sense of humour and everything. Add in he’s the best bowler of all time, real loss that

england try to **** up less time.

they have won toss and chose to bat so we should see the windies opening batsmen in about 2 hours time ;)

    seriously though

England: Alex Lees, Zak Crawley, Joe Root (capt), Dan Lawrence, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes (wk), Chris Woakes, Craig Overton, Mark Wood, Jack Leach

what the **** do theiy think is going to happen with that batting line up bar play like an ODI and what do they think those bowlers are going to d bar bowl like an ODI and then leech get stuck on when everyone is tired and he's last resort

this is not a test team. this is a cobbled up ODI side with injuries.

How long before we lose both openers? I’m gonna say 24-2

    57/4 we made lunch. yay.

if you are an odi side my advice is attack the ball. (not that the bowling is attackable)

england are funny that way. #

New ball, openers and upper order skittled for nothing

The ball gets older and some single bod stands up and gets some score to give us vain hope and is lauded a hero

New ball comes out and they all get skittled.

then the bowling will start with wood and woakes and they will be said to be loosening up in the first test so will be excused conceding loads of runs.

then England will drop some catches

then the bowlers will get injured etc etc.

The pattern is well established now.

england following the route map perfectly.

93rd over and they basically are now 286/8 having been 268/6 at close. wood and leech to come. they might as well try hack for 20 or 30 runs now as stand and wait to be picked off. however despite being all ODI specialists not test cricketers they seem to have this thing where they will stand and wait to be dismissed as thrown the bat at it is worse offense in thier heads.

Bairstow dropped on a routine enough caught and bowled so he goes nuts and starts slashing while wood who should be slashing is being mindful but still goes for just 1 run.

Bairstow clipped a single first ball over over and left wood 5 balls and he then goes on the 4th ball of over. oh dear.
