Was listening to an interview with one of the Lawyers who works with ultra rich foreign nationals in the UK. He also advises people on how to manage their assets when sanctions are in play, proper dark arts shiz, moving money around on the 'cusp' of the law.

He was saying that until somebody is sanctioned, they can do whatever they like with their assets and money, but once sanctions are imposed, it is then illegal for lawyers to assist them in any way. He also said that some rich people might try to pre-empt any sanctions by disposing of assets before they are taken off of them.

Somebody is defo tipping Roman off. There's no way he'd willingly ditch Chelsea and give them back all the money they owe him unless he though it was all going to be siezed <ok>

You mean like selling your shares in a Russian bank just before sanctions on Russian banks go in. No way!

City and Chelsea built their clubs before FFP, City were the prime example for the supposed need for it. FFP curtailed them and stopped another club doing what they did again. Clubs can skirt around the edges of FFP but they can’t steam roller through it.

Mate, I will nail on guarantee that someone within the British Government has tipped Roman off, despite it being against the law. Unlike a yacht, a football club is a fixed asset that you can't move, so someone has purposely moved him further down the list to give him time. I wouldn't know where to begin to start, it's as dodgy as shhite. You've allowed the potential to be sanctioned person to start winding down his assets, which defeats the whole object of why we impose sanctions. It's a joke.

    Yep, exactly that.

Tipping off their Russian donors and getting their own cash out before sanctions bite

Nothing like a bit of insider trading to smooth the blow eh <laugh>

If you had money invested in Russian banks, Russian companies that you could sell, two-four weeks of sabre rattling on the boarder of Ukraine should have been all the clue you needed to get your money out.
Sure it happened on both sides of the house.

It does beg the question. If these Russian oligarchs are so bad, have heavy links to Putin and are a foil for the largest amount of corruption in our capital, why did we wait until a Russian invasion before we brought the hammer down on them? Were they ok before then? All it does is expose how full of **** our politicians are.

Late to the party, but I hate Leicester.
    Cheated to gain promotion.
Left several small businesses to go bust due to monies owed building the stadium.
They aren’t owned by the local pub landlord ffs, they are financed by a family whose background is shady to say the least.

Truss saying she had a 'hit list' said it all for me, not for the first time she has been picked up on her rhetoric, the last ocassion nearly sparking a nuclear war.

I moved overseas before having to worry about income tax, etc... I know in the US donating that much money would mean he wouldn't have to pay income tax for the year because he would have given away more than he would owe... So he'd be saving money rather than having it seized.

Don't know if it works that way in UK or not.

We all knew when Roman bought Chelsea it was to launder his money, but football fans accept this type of thing these days. If in doubt just create a Charity to wash it even more.

City and Chelsea still loophole around FFP though. City fudges money from sponsorships and they both take circuitous routes in paying players and staff to make them not count as expenditures. They both pay more than they earn.... FFP just makes the whole process non transparent and encourages cheating.

You're right they can't do it openly, but it's still all a charade. Just get it out in the open and stop the fooling around. It's more an even playing field if you don't have to skirt the rules than if it just rewards those who do.
