    Swansea City v Coventry City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com Stadium
    Date - 5 March 2022
    Kick off - 3:00pm

Following their unexpected, but fully deserved, away victory at West Bromwich, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a home match against Coventry City.

On Monday evening, West Brom's miserable run continued as the Swans further hit the Baggies’ fading promotion hopes with a deserved 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

Joel Piroe struck through a crowded penalty area with 11 minutes remaining to break the deadlock for the visitors. Cyrus Christie then fired home with a powerful effort with six minutes left.

Callum Robinson twice hit the post for the Baggies, whose new boss Steve Bruce is still looking for his first win in his five games since taking the Manager’s job.

Last Saturday, Coventry rescued a point against bogey side Preston as substitute Fabio Tavares equalised with the last kick of the game in a dramatic finale involving two red cards at the CBS Arena.

After having defender Liam Lindsay sent off on 84 minutes for a second yellow-card offence, 10-man North End then went ahead with just a minute of normal time left.

Coventry defender Fankaty Dabo became the second player to see red when he was adjudged to have brought down Emil Riis Jakobsen - and Daniel Johnson converted the resulting penalty.

But, just four minutes after coming on, Tavares then curled in a 98th-minute equaliser to rescue a point to deny Preston.

As a result, Coventry dropped to 10th, albeit only three points off a play-off place.

The Swans have played the Sky Blues on 32 previous occasions, winning 11, losing 12, with 9 drawn.

In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a second half header from Ben Cabango:

Turning to Saturday, the Swans will be buoyant following their win at The Hawthorns: but will they be suffering from tiredness as has been cited previously, by Russell Martin, as the reason for failing to follow up a good performance after a midweek (albeit Monday) match?

I’m hopeful that the Swans will secure a second successive victory with a 2-1 home win <cheers>

Bollocks to the tiredness excuses - how unfit are these 'professional' footballers after playing for only 90 mins ???
Don't believe it for a moment - it's just nonsense.

Thanks Taff, I am hoping we can continue the 2nd half form from the WBA game. So it's a 2-0 win for the Swans

3-0 Swans, looking into my crystal ball, we'll win 13 and lose 1 of our remaining matches, ending up with the same no of W,D, L and Pts we got under Brendan's promotion winning team. We'll also win promotion via the play offs. How's that for a prediction?
