Good Morning. It's Thursday 3rd March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds agreed Marsch deal a week prior to Bielsa’s dismissal

Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta had agreed verbal terms with Jesse Marsch at least a week before Marcelo Bielsa was given his marching orders, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs. Originally, Marsch was being lined up to take the reins at Elland Road in the Summer but losses against Newcastle and Everton accelerated the process. Successive losses against Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs were the final nails in the coffin. According to Jacobs:-

In his post, the journalist said: “Told Marsch now in Leeds and LUFC had lined up a verbal agreement at least a week before the loss to Spurs. Reason Leeds have moved so quickly was because they’d sounded Marsch out for a summer move. Unclear if Bielsa was resigned to leaving at end of season but it looks like a May change was agreed regardless of form under him. Appointing Marsch now is just fast-tracking a board plan.”

    Start of a new era

Jesse Marsch will take his first Pre Match Press Conference today in preparation for Saturday's crunch tie at the King Power Stadium. The 48yo has only had two days to work with his new players since being officially introduced on Tuesday, but is excited to get started. It is expected that the American will deviate away from the man-marking system which claimed so much controversy during the latter parts of Bielsa's tenure.

talkSport presenter Laura Woods revealed that Marche to be more defensively minded than his predecessor (shock news), having already shipped 60 goals this season:- “I’ve also heard that [Marsch] might be a little more defensive. They do need to do something obviously to stop shipping those goals.”

'The chances of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha staying beyond this season are slim-to-none'

Daily Mirror journalist Dean Jones has stated that 'the chances of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha staying at Elland Road beyond this season are slim-to-none'. The duo are both locked-in to deals until the Summer of 2024, but as their contracts tick-down, as does their asking price!

Leeds have been trying to negotiate new and improved contracts with both players, but as yet, both are stumbling. It is hoped they will pen new terms before the end of this season; which will put Radrizzani in a position of power, so he can cash in on his star assets when the time is right. With the World Cup just over eight months away (Nov 21st), it is expected to see players values soar, should they impress in Qatar. It could be the difference between 50 million and 100+ million! Curently, Raphinha has clauses in his contract allowing him to leave if a suitor offers 62.5m, or 20m if the Whites are relegated. According to Jones:-

“Sadly for Leeds fans, the Bielsa exit is not the only one they will be sorrowing this year. From what I’m hearing, the chances of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha staying beyond this season are slim-to-none.”

Nothing wrong with posting journo bollox from the useless lazy lot at the Mirror and other red tops Elland, but sometimes the spin and slant is a joke and not worth it. Laura Woods? Go play with your hair straighteners and lippy, just fk off away from football please.

Where was the legend Phil Hay on Monday when I said JM was already in Leeds and speaking to the players? Hay didnt have a clue what was happening as he was busy writing another hit job on Bielsa and why he had to go. So the mention of Ben Jacobs is a welcome change as hes a great source for football and American players like Arronson etc. CBS sports journo knows everything and everyone in Europe to do with yanks over here. Why I knew JM was here over the weekend and at TA on monday. Pointless following Hay on twitter these days

The thing about the contracts for Rapha and Kalvin is this: if Rapha wants a big pay rise now he signs it, and as we know Kalvin will want the club to get a fair price for him if he leaves. Nobody knows what will happen and we can only guess as to the players views on what happens over the next dozen games. They both bought into the project and if we go dwn they will both probably leave, but if we stay up and we are going to invest in top talent, then things change. Some say Rapha is wanting to leave but we know Phillip doesn't want to leave unless circumstances change. We are guessing and reading journos views

    Morning all

I’m looking forward to our next game more than I’ve looked forward to any other game this season.

It’s like a new mini season is just about to start.

Players - A lot can happen between now and the end of the season and the start of a new one. We do well under Marsch, the 49ers take control, we get a few big name players in with a new budget, see then who wants to be part of it.

They’re under contract, there is no rush

Yep :emoticon-0148-yes: feel exactly the same Ristac, although miracles don't happen overnight, looking forward to seeing what changes in players and tactics, feel we might just be edged out on this one say 2-1 but results will improve game on game as players get used to a new system, i am now quietly confident, for the first time in months we will be more than ok this season.

I'm usually quite positive but we don't have the players to implement the new guys tactics. I'm not looking forward to the weekend.

Switching from man toman all over the pitch is a good thing given the players lack of achieving it. Playing it through tight areas in the centre of the pitch has been our issue all season. We don't have ANY strength through the middle even when we've had numerical advantages most of the season.

To be honest I just see us losing the ball more regularly than we did previously and getting caught on the break by Vardy who will be man to man marked by either Llorente, Struijk or Koch. He's just going to run behind and nobody to catch him.

Sorry to be miserable but that's just how I see Saturday going.

I'm not convinced the players can suddenly up their game after such a short time with our new man in charge. Hope I'm wrong. The heavy defeats were against the top sides and the Newcastle game was a fluke, so yes I'm still annoyed regarding Bielsa'a sacking. Any side could have been handed heavy defeats by those clubs. Regarding Raph and Philips, I don't want to hear about Philips being a local boy, Leeds Utd fan and then he might be leaving. I also don't want to hear about footballs a short career, want to get more money, play at a different level, play in cups etc etc, I want LOYALTY, just like us fans. Both those two should give their heads a shake and remember who made them better players.<ok>

The extension of raph and kp’s contracts is purely about securing future sales values while lining pockets short term and all parties will understand that.

Leeds fans want to believe that kp would never leave, but whilst his preference would be to have success with us frankly he’d be an idiot to not want champion’s league football. He’s a lovely lad but he’s not an idiot… certainly his agent isn’t.

There’s a chance kp sticks around but no chance raph will be with us long term… unless he continues to play like a league one player as he has recently and no one wants him.

If Radz remains in charge I’d expect both to go, if the 49ers take control a lot can happen. First us as fans, the players and possible new owners need to know JM is up to the task, if he does well between now and the season end there could be a lot to look forward to.

I believe he’ll turn it around and both players will sign new contracts, if he doesn’t and we get relegated more than holding on to those two it will be about holding on to the likes of Bate, Joffy, Drameh, Cresswell and Summerville as that’s where our immediate future will be

All JM has to do is win 3 games and we’re safe. There are more than 3 games we are capable of winning…… I hope:emoticon-0148-yes:

Good morning everyone isn't it exciting what's happening at the club. Phase 2 of Rads grand plan for the future is now being executed.
Although jesse has not had long to tighten up the loose play i am hoping for some small improvements to make us more competitive. I know it's silly of me but dare i hope a striker up front and full backs where they should be. Meslier will benefit from a tighter set up too. So on we go till the end of the season and I'm looking forward to it.

Apparently in training Bate and Greenwood have been receiving a lot of attention from Marsch

Well we are short of midfielders and with jesse we may see a better bench.
