Spot on, a couple of stray passes but overall what an impact he had on the game yesterday.

Mad to think they were below us in the table before we played them

Defence has been our failing since we have been in this division players out of position , no settled selection ,many not good enough , poor keepers etc .. the teams who have gone up have been similar to rotherham.

Id be shocked if we have kept a clean sheet in more than a quarter of the games we've played at this level. A staple of a promotion is clean sheets and it's something we've not been able to do.

Even Man City who are praised for their attacking play have kept them in half their games this season. Needing to score 2 to win any game is a struggle to continue for a prolonged period.

A much better performance and a little bit of my optimism restored. Just annoying that the bad run lasted so long but hey ho - onwards and upwards

  10. Nail on head mate....and those who criticise the recruitment need to take note...this lad looks like he'll be good for us.

Very impressed so far for the little we have seen of him, could be massive for us given time and appearances to get him up to speed with colleges

Tbf often the recruitment per se has often been okay. But we do seem to have an awful lot of wingers, but a lack of central strikers and defenders. Plus a lot of very young players. Resulting in a lop-sided squad.

Hence we do not have a settled back four, so its hardly surprising we struggle for clean sheets.

Joking surely? Our recruitment has left our defence hamstrung and midfield Imbalanced. Yes by all means give them credit where it's due but to ignore their failings is being very selective.

  14. Yep,I can see that mate. There's no doubt we've gone for a squad that maybe can fulfil the future, rather than the journymen we've come to expect in recent years.
I do think that we may have over estimated the resilience and adaptability of the young players, almost forgetting how the pressure would affect them, and I do agree with you that lots of young attacking players has given the squad an imbalance......which may not have been there if for injuries, which,of course, they can't control.
However,I don't think all is lost.

  15. I think they made a mistake in allowing Flanagan to go before a replacement was signed, and I think we may have been over loyal to Denver, but, apart from that I'm not sure we've made many mistakes?

Watched the 90 minutes yesterday, have to say we made Wigan looked a very poor side. Matete and now Arby have brought about massive improvements and the cohesiveness was a joy to watch , still some way to go so long may it continue.

Absolutely. the players we’ve brought in (on the whole) are good we just haven’t always strengthened in the right areas!

True, the last window was a shambles no question. However the players we have brought in overall have been so much better than previous, that we have to back the scouting system at least and if changes are to be made I am sure they will be in due time.

I think the gaps in defence are obvious but I don't see an issue with midfield. 4-5 wingers. 4-5 central midfielders and a couple of no.10s

The weird thing for me is buying a RB and refusing to play him

Think he means the players we are finding and signing, are usually pretty good, I'd agree and have for most of the last year or so

But no doubt the squad is badly out of kilter. This has left the chance of going up swinging in the wind.
