I know I'm repeating myself but this squad is good enough to win any game.

Probably makes our game against them a little easier.

They can really churn out the results like. Quick look counted 7 x 1-0’s 8 x 2-0’s. That’s before the the 2-1s and others . Only 5 conceded in 17 away games - we’ll have to have a good day to get a full revenge !

The Wigan fans didn’t half get there knickers in a twist yesterday not seen folk upset like that in a long while,if that had been our fans at the stadium wouldn’t like to hazard a guess how many would have been lifted

NO doubt they are in a good run right now, but 5 of the last 10 games they have just managed to win 1-0. its the clean sheets that have got them where they are. only 19 goals conceded so far in the league, pretty impressive.

With Xhemali looking good we can now, if we want, have the option of playing him and Wright for a game and the next game play Doyle and Bath.

We should have well rested central defenders (barring further injuries)

There’s also the option of playing three there and resting one each game.

The only real problem is Cirkin who also needs a rest. Gooch or Neil could fill in to give him a rest and when Onion returns that’s another LB option.

Broadband looks like he might be available soonish.

As players return our squad is starting to look ready for a good play off showing.
Maybe things are coming together at the right time for the play offs.

The pity is that we have the player's to have been that team. No one will convince me that their players are even equal to ours never mind better. Better manager or tactics, even better man management at all levels and we should be right up there.

It does make you wonder why Parkinson/Johnson (Sanderson), and Johnson (Xhemajli,Younger), were so scared to give them a single chance. Even from the bench would have been better than nowt.. Its been obvious for a long time that Doyle is burnt out physically and mentally going from U23 football to a full on season in League 1 plus England youth duties.

It feels like its a complete waste of resources and talent within our squad by constantly playing safe and picking the same players instead of given a young lad the chance he deserves.

Turned me right off did these decisions, what cant they see.

Two posts that saved me a lot of typing Happy days. <ok> OaU

Well, perhaps if we had a back four that was fit and able and used to playing with each other game after game. With the preferred keeper and a couple of DMs in front of them we would have clean sheets.

This is if course the opposite of what we have had.

I got 14/1 for them to win the league before the start of the season. Quality L1 side. Solid.

Agree we can win any game in the division, I just don’t think they have the mental resilience to win every game.

Could kick myself, to me it was obvious they would get promoted, they have done so the last 2 times in this division, but I did not put a bet on.

Just watched the full 90, what a set of ****houses Wigan were and deserved everything they got.

Every Sunderland player did their bit, but Jay Matete was something else. Alex Prichard covered enough ground for two matches, Gooch had a great game and had McClean in his back pocket for 98 minutes. Arbi and Bailey Wright had Magennis and then Humphtys wrapped up, Stewart was everywhere and Evans shielded very well.

I don’t know why Wigan were complaining about time wasting, if we had a bit more time we would have scored more :emoticon-0105-wink:

Matete was man of the match for me, with Prichard and Gooch close to him

Got ourselves an absolute player in Matete. At only 20yrs old as well! Huge potential once the rough edges are knocked off through experience.
