It’s great to see so many decent Russians taking to the streets to defy that crazy dictator and his Nazi stormteoopers. I personally hope this is the catalyst for another revolution. That boss eyed **** has raped his country of its natural resources and money for far too long. time for the people, and democracy to prevail.
Btw… Vettel has already said he will boycott Sochi in Sept. I hope the others follow. How about they take the knee for Ukraine. I also hope wor flags have a message for that beast and that our players wear armbands in the colours of Ukraine.
i can’t see how he can survive this in all honesty. If he’s not killed (somehow) he should be removed/replaced….if that’s even possible. Captured and tried and convicted of war crimes is probably the ultimate outcome….assuming he survives of course. This is ****ing nuts. I wonder what the authorities are thinking in the surrounding countries such as Poland and Belarus…are they next or what, where/how does it stop? Pulling the CL final and a motor race ain’t gonna make any difference but it needs to happen and I can see why it should happen.
Putin is less of an USSR fanboy and more of a "historical Rus" fanboy. The ancient nation of Kievan Rus is where Russian identity was born, aka, in the ****ing Ukraine. So for nationalists like Putin, the idea that Russian peoples like Belarus, Ukraine and the like aren't one large super state is a great tragedy. He wrote a paper on this a few years ago outlining his opinion on the matter. He said in essence, that the English speaking world - Australia, the UK, US and Canada are culturally and politically aligned, that makes sense to him and he respects it, but he doesn't understand why Ukraine, Belarus and Russia argue so much, they are not politically aligned and Ukraine is even considering to go Western. But what he fails to grasp is, while that makes him sad, he doesn't have a right to bomb the **** out of them for it.
Just heard that a good schoolfriend, who has lived in Kiev for the last 28 years, has managed to escape to Poland with his Ukranian wife and mother in law. He had previously been determined not to leave, so the fact he felt the need to leave shows it is far worse than a lot of Ukranians had imagined it would be. We should be hitting Russia with far harsher sanctions than we are. Remove them from the Swift banking system completely and freeze and confiscate all Russian assets in the west including all property owned by Russian companies and individuals. I can't help thinking that they are still choosing sanctions that protect the very rich and the investments and interests they have with Russian companies and individuals.
Post from a ukrainian - There won't be any insurgency. My grandparents lived in Donbas. I was raised in Dnepr not far from it. Despite all the bs you hear from the Western media about the insurgency, about how Ukrainians are going to fight and all of that, it's all horsechit. Watching clowns like Chuck Schumer talk about 'resilience' of Ukrainian people and their will to fight is just pure cringe. Besides the far Western Ukrainians, Russia to Ukraine is like Australia to New Zealand, if not closer. How do you think Russia is managing to glide through Ukraine so quickly? All the bs you hear from Zelensky is a joke, the guy is literally a puppet comedian if he thinks Ukrainian civilians are going to die over him and American interests, a large majority of Ukrainian people hate Americans. I just hope it all ends quickly, hopefully this clown gets knocked down and Russia retreats back. Preferably we can have a neutral leader who can be a bridge between East and West. Despite all the clowns here talking about Putin wanting USSR, I think Putin would be quite happy with Ukraine not joining NATO. But the problem is, US would not settle for that, they want war, they want conflict. Anything that hurts Russia is a win for US. Divide and conquer. Anything that pushes Russia away from the rest of Europe is a win. It's shame that Russia has been pushed into this. People have little idea of what Ukrainian government has been doing in the east and how they have turned the area into a hole. It used to be a good place to live. I am not going to sit here and defend anyone, war is bad regardless but I hate the one sided hypocrisy. US has literally used the same strategy in every country. Destabilize the government, sell some dream idea, revolution, install a puppet, rinse and repeat. Everything US touched turned to chit, not a single nation turned out to be good after their 'democracy'. I think it's about time someone stood up, we need more balance across the world, not someone like US with 800+ bases across the world running Coup missions in every part of the world is not a long term strategy for world peace.
I didn't think we'd see anything like this in our lifetime, if ever again. No telling which way this could go. Lot of thoughts are this isn't stopping at Ukraine - what if he decides to go all in and start looking at Romania, the 'Stan's, even Poland? What if China decide now is the time to make moves?
