Unfortunately, it may just be a case of everyone having to step away. Ukraine is not a super power, Russia is. If anyone who is a super power steps in it's ww3. Ukraine is just a smaller country that is getting buttfucked by a bigger one and we may just have to accept it to avoid mass causalities.
Putin won't stop at Ukraine. He's after the the rebirth of the soviet Union... He's sick of America and wants the ussr to be bigger than anyone
And by getting Ukraine he makes Russia much much more powerful. Have you seen the natural resources that Ukraine has? By doing nothing we are choosing to make Russia an even bigger threat.
It’s all very odd. Feels like Putin has gone a bit mental. But I also don’t think it’s something the West should be involved with. It’s not persecution based on religion or race. I also don’t quite get why Putin thinks it’s a good idea. I mean it’s going to set his own economy back years or worse. It’s just really, really ****ing stupid and incredibly weird.
I think he is banking on the West doing very little in response. He knows we won't act militarily and I suspect he is relying on any sanctions being either weak or short term as they will hurt the West too. Russia has a lot of economic influence in the City of London, as an example, and has contributed a lot to political people and organisations in both the UK and US. I think he is hoping we all just ignore it. It also helps him politically at home by distracting from the shortfalls there. If we don't ignore it then it will hurt Russia massively.
Well if its the entire soviet union they're after then we might aswel stop messing around with sanctions and go to war. Time will tell
But until the VETO has been removed doesn't that mean that the 5 countries have the power to VETO any attempt to remove their VETO??
The VETO doesn't apply to procedural votes, but it does apply to substantive resolutions. Sounds like the sort of thing that could keep them arguing longer than me and Chaos!
