1-0 FT. Negative team selection and undone by a poorly defended set-piece. Actually played better after the break, until weird subs ruined our shape. The same tactics for City and Burnley was just silly.
Sadly it is believable as it’s what Spurs always do to you. Oh well at least we don’t have to get any false hope up anymore for champions league qualification
Wrong tactics first half, play out from the back in those conditions??? As Klopp would say, too vekking windy.
Yup, I finally accept it’s not going to happen this year which won’t be helpful in terms of transfers this summer.
Lose four of the last five and the only one you win is City away? Just wtf. Don't worry, Wolves will 1-0 us tomorrow as payback.
Bunch of sad Eejits. Win one game of football - then after that, think they're too good to get their shirts dirty.
Much improved second half but ultimately we just lacked any cutting edge. The first half game plan seemed very cautious, we ceded a lot of possession and maybe if we’d started with the pace and intensity we showed in the second half we might have got a goal or two just from having more chances. As it was, once again we went for the game too late. Been saying that a lot the last few years.
That wouldn't help us in the slightest as Wolves are above us. A draw with around 6 red cards would be grand.
Fans and the social media team don’t help though, one good game against City and people are lauding Romero as good as Van Dijk and saying the two new signings have transformed the team etc. It’s important not to get too down after a defeat but just as important don’t get too high after one win.
I'm going back to my birthday party, watch some of the good old stuff! Burnley were our big rivals in those days. Thanks again for posting it all, great present which I will dip in & out for yonks. So disappointing tonight.....
Mid table performances from a club with a big stadium debt. I want ENIC to feel real financial pain, because IMHO Uncle Joe having to cover creditors from his own wealth seems to be the only way the message will get thru.
This game will cost us dear come May - mark my words. Bunch of buffoons - should be made to sleep on the training room floor, for rest of week... and hand back their pay.
Exactly what I was thinking. The first half Spurs were fully as ponderous as they were under Mourinho or Nuno. While they were much better in the second half, it was too little, too late. Squads that are successful don't play really ponderous first halves against Burnley.
Hard to believe that neither the ref on the pitch or the one on VARdid not consider the foul in the box to be worthy of a penalty.
Its literally been the same under Nuno and under Jose. At least we got going straight after the second half started tonight, rather than after conceding like the other two, but I just struggle to see why we can’t play with more pace and intensity from the get-go. I’m not asking for the handbrake to be off 100% of the time because that’s footballing suicide, but we have to find a better balance and be willing to dominate the ball more. Not every team is City and that plan won’t work every time.
You could see this coming a mile off, Burnley are shiete but they out fought and out worked our collection of prima donnas, a real after the lord mayors show performance, how many times have we seen that. The referee was poor, he let clear yellow cards go and fell for Burnley`s players falling over every time they got within range of goal. Burnley offered little apart from aggression and the ability to fall over to win cheap free kicks, which the officials fell for every time, and they won the game from it. I thought we deserved a draw on balance of play, but we lacked creativity overall and simply have too many ordinary players.
I want to say they're less than the sum of their parts, not that that really makes any difference. If you knew nothing about them, you would think that this collection of players should be doing better than they are under this manager. Instead they're doing exactly what they did under their last two managers (not counting Mason, who wasn't around long enough for the new manager bounce to wear off): provide a new manager bounce, then slough off. This is a squad with a very weak character.
