Only consolation I can draw from last night is that we're unlikely to be that bad again at least for a while, so we might be able to scratch a few points together in the meantime. UTT
Ha....I thought that after Stoke.....then we had the Derby game.....then we had the Barnsley game.....we've 100% got that in us at any point!
From what I saw last night, we can’t handle being pressed. Not once did any of our lads try and skin their man, they simply stopped and went sideways or backwards. The midfield was woeful. If you play in a 3, you need to move as a unit and support the players on the ball. As it happened, they didn’t, they were static and non moving, which allowed Barnsley to simply pass it round them. We need to be braver against those types of teams, especially with home advantage. Those players should be trying to impress any watching clubs because they won’t be staying beyond Summer. They let themselves down, they let us down and they let the club down. As unbelievable as it seems, we need to forget it and move on to Saturday.
Last night was one of the worst performances I've ever seen, the hoofing up as far as you can kick it was embarrassing, we did it more than Sunday league teams do ffs. Everyone looked **** scared to have the ball and get rid as quick as they could. If our way of "playing" is just booting it up front, why didn't we sign someone that's going to win the headers or put in a bit of a scrap like say, oh I don't know Hogan, who was available. Not the best striker in the world but he's a nasty bastard and knows the league. Hopefully the gap in points is enough to stay up but after that **** show I'm very worried we're going to capitulate and head back down to League 1 again. We really need to get at least a point against Peterborough. Hopefully Eaves is back soon, Forss definitely doesn't work as a target man.
IMO, even though we are light upfront the main problem in the service to the front, it's nearly non-existant, apart from an aimless boot up front with the hope of it finding one of our players. Hinds would be no better that Forss in that situation. The main problem in midfield, everything either goes sideways or backwards.
The number of times players came to the sideline to talk to the coaches during the first 20 minutes told you all you needed to know, they either didn't have a clue what they were supposed to be doing or they knew it wasn't working, either way it was a disaster. It seems harsh to judge Shota after 7 games but I'm yet to see anything convincing from him, his tactics, player selection, substitutes and even his body language on the sideline are all a concern. I was never a big fan of McCann and thought he should have lost his job after the Wigan debacle but he had our limited squad performing beyond their abilities this season and should have been given the opportunity to secure our Championship safety before he was moved on. Oh and that should be Smallwood's last appearance in a City shirt, throwing the armband to the floor and running off down the tunnel was embarrassing, Honeyman should be made captain for the rest of the season.
Don't remind me. I lumped on finishing in the top half of the table and I'm licking my wounds already. When you're lacking quality it's hard to play well. I know it's part of the modern game, but having to pull defenders back to assist the team against a bottom of the table outfit takes some understanding. Attack is the best form of defence. The new manager's an intelligent guy? - the jury's out on that one. Why can't he change things during the game instead of identifying problems in post match interviews?
His post match interview doesn't really amount to much regarding last-nights debacle? At one point he describes them thus "They're honest, nice boys and they know we haven't played as a team there"?? F.F.S
Sums it up really. He means he's stuck with them until the end of the season. I just feel sorry for the newbies who turned up and had to watch xxxxe like that.
agree, Shota is finding out very quickly managing in The Championship is a completely different ballgame to managing in the Uzbekistan Super League I can't see what he's trying to do ? It's not like he's trying to play fast attacking football & we are being hit on the counter all the time (as happened under Leonid Slutsky), we are playing boring football. There is no creativity in midfield & the service to our lone striker is dismal. He's taken a team that had 3 wins on the trot & gone backwards . I'm going to Peterborough on Sat but I admit I'm not looking forward to it . I can see us getting turned over (especially if McCann is back there). If this carries on at some point Acun has to make the decision to let his mate go & bring in someone that can keep us up
Well he shouldn’t have been As I’ve said we keep hearing money no object So why not sign some good players in January? There were players available Yet we didn’t ****ing stupid not too
Can anyone post the goals I’d like to see them both again Especially the second one Greaves appeared to switch off
