Plenty of weddings planned for 22/2/22 I'd imagine - good luck to all those planning the old nuptials. Thanks for the continuing efforts on the daily thread attivo - truly appreciated
SALCOMBE Taunton 4:50 14/1 Lovely looking animal and switching to handicaps combined with going up in trip could be just whats required to see a jolt of improvement.
Evening Stick, good to see you posting the winners again, unlucky with Barney today. However are you sure SALCOMBE needs a 40 minute head start . Tizzard certainly amongst the winners recently.
Good to see the Boyne Hurdle card at Navan rescheduled to today after being abandoned at the weekend. The feature race looks to be more of a stepping stone for some of the leading contenders - Thyestes winner Longhouse Poet looks to be using this as a Grand National prep and Grand Roi's connections will be hoping to see an improved showing to clarify his Cheltenham target - Stayers Hurdle or Coral Cup again (the latter looking much more likely based on what he has shown thus far this winter). Ronald Pump and Dreal Deal will be looking to recapture some sort of form after disappointing seasons (Dreal Deal well beaten when sent novice chasing) whilst Gentlemansgame and Ashdale Bob will be trying to rediscover their novice hurdle form. Given he is getting a bit of weight from most of his rivals I think Longhouse Poet is the one to beat, with Ashdale Bob the one for the forecast. In the listed mares novice hurdle only Lunar Display has a Cheltenham entry and she will be looking to book her place on the ferry. Similarly, 3 of the 4 runners in the Grade 2 Novice Chase have Cheltenham entries and, after chasing home Stattler last time out, Farouk D'Alene is a very short price to book a rematch with that one in the National Hunt Chase by winning today.
Not really a daily thread issue but it turns out Bet 365 are windy about taking a £20 ew bet on a 66/1 shot in the Grand National. They’ll allow £15 ew but the last tenner is referred to a trader and never gets updated. The race is a lottery, is 2 months away and no NRNB. The lass who owns Bet365 is a billionaire a few times over. I’m sure it was ol boy Shergy who referred to them as Bet £3.65. Lightweight Stokie bastards.
Oisin Murphy gets a year on the sidelines for a whole bunch of misdemeanours. I hope he gets help for the drink problem he’s got and comes back stronger in 2023. Interesting comment from the inquiry head who said something like “you thought you were above the rules but you’re not, they are for all”. Maybe our Prime Minister should take note.
Yeah, hopefully he can get himself sober and back to his best. He has become such a high profile jockey now that he must maintain the highest professional standards that come with the honour of being champion jockey and riding some of the best horses for the richest owners. He is an idol to many younger kids and adults looking in from the outside. It's a good thing that it's all out in the open now and taking help won't carry the stigma it often does for people with an addiction who can never reach out, or more often than not, not be afforded the right care. But, living in Ireland and situated where I am, I have seen it all too often, a person in this situation can ultimately only help themselves at the end of the day, if they don't have that will and desire to change, it won't happen, others can only do so much. All going well, it will be the kick in the backside he perhaps needed , he's young and could have another 15 to 20 years riding at an elite level if he so chooses. All the best to him in his recovery.
Stick, I promise again to stop backing your tips. I've dipped in on the last two selections and they've both run like drains. I'll go back to leaving your magic alone.
