I have never suggested bubbles. See my above post.... I have no idea how any of any of my suggestions, for say another 4 to 6 weeks ( weather permitting), are going to impinge on the mental health or economic health of country
Is omnicron the final stage or will there be something else along in say 4 to 6 weeks Could be wearing masks for years to come yet Get my booster tomorrow should I be able to make it through the anti vaccers
It seems a bit bizarre to stop the supply of LFT’s, at least until spring. Knowing how things are going seems to make sense, as well as allowing those that are careful and considerate enough to take appropriate steps to not spread this contagion unnecessarily. Have ordered a pack of LFTs now so that at least I can test should I feel any symptoms and take steps to quarantine myself suitably.
I'll continue to wear a mask for as long as I feel I should. Strange assumptions you're making Beth. Maybe let's just agree to differ a little.
I think most people will behave the same. We've ordered more tests too and will continue to wear masks and protect others when appropriate. The government can't hold our hands forever and the numbers are now less than a winter flu outbreak.
Agree I don’t understand the mask thing she is going on about. Most people will probably wear them in certain places anyway.
Norway and other countries after much research, 2 separate expert groups in Norway, calculated they would save lives by stopping the use of Astra Zenica and using MRNA vaccines instead. Even the UK age restricted it. Not so many were dying of Covid per head in Norway as in the UK, so that was part of the reasoning.
You need to wear a mask though outside your house to protect the at risk and elderly. Selfish not to.
Availability of free test kits aside, all that has changed is the legal compulsion to wear masks (although individual organisations like TFL can require it) and isolate. The is no compulsion NOT to do these things. Isolation is tricky for those on limited income which they will lose without income support. I agree that people should be able to test for nothing and isolate without starving. But, broadly, individuals have to start taking responsibility rather than the government making the decisions for them. Your anger with the government could just as easily be directed at the people who refuse to do the right thing for their neighbours. I’ll be wearing a mask in certain situations. But, just like you, not in the pub which I think is the riskiest place I go for catching an infectious, airborne virus. If I catch COVID I will isolate, and I would expect others to do so as well.
Totally agree that you should wear masks in certain places. It’s down to peoples personal responsibilities. I won’t get into the mask argument but 90% of people break the rules when wearing masks.
probably because it's costing the government an arm and a leg for them (also private companies can earn millions selling them).
Beth is understandably worried about the whole situation and scientists, rightly, view this stuff slightly differently, dealing as they do in absolutes. Agree to differ eh?
Why, if you think the pub is the most likely place for you to catch covid do you say that's the one place you won't wear a mask (I realise you can't whilst actually eating or drinking)?
Because they aren't wearing them properly? I see loads of tourists here who wear them without covering their nose, or neither nose or mouth. That's not wearing a mask imo, and they should be locked away with the thousands testing positive.
Multiple answers, the foremost of which is that I am clearly an idiot. There is no logic to this behaviour. A few months ago I wouldn’t have gone into a pub at all, but my worry about catching COVID (and I recognise it can be nasty as you well know) is significantly lower than it was, due to vaccination and the nature of this variant. But that is post hoc rationalisation. Pubs are for conversation, which is severely limited without being able to see you friends’ faces, as well as booze. I suppose I have taken an unconscious risk assessment and decided that my enjoyment of unfettered social time with friends is worth it. But until now I haven’t really thought it through.
I actually don't think we do differ Col. I think you and I will do exactly the same. We will wear a mask when we think is needed...my case public transport, my weekly tescos shop etc. I will test when I feel necessary for as long as I have tests. When I am ill, I will self isolate away from people
Yep, and this is quite a good example of the way the government are now approaching the whole thing imo. Make your own judgement. Be considerate to others. You're right that it's milder, but I wouldn't wish that sore throat on anyone. Feeling a little better, but still a bit light headed and feeling like I have a head cold, without much snot! Just tested positive still, on day six since the initial positive test.
Totally agree. I see people pulling them down to talk. Not wearing them over their nose. Keep touching them Using them more than once. Put in pocket and use later all the above makes them useless.
Here's another weird symptom. If I move around a bit, like take a shower, make some food, go up and down stairs, I get a stitch in my side. Anyone know why this could be (sensible answers would be appreciated)?
