Just out of interest......... The year is 2022, who uses the term " Good Grief "?????? or "finest" for that matter???????
The problem with that is that everywhere would end up looking like Coventry or Swindon. No soul or culture. If we want a bigger stadium and there are listed buildings in the way then a new site is the right option.
Ah man I hope you’re joking. Some of the architecture in the town is amazing. I walk around in awe at times from the work of John Dobson etc. This is our city man, it’s beautiful. I have sleepless nights about the lack of stonemasons under the age of 55 worrying about these wonderful buildings I’m not even joking, heritage is important. Modern buildings are so simplistic and ugly. I’m biased as someone who works in construction so I love architecture and I love buildings. The way we built in the past was amazing. I’m torn because of my love for the club but the one thing I can’t advocate for is just delisting and demolishing them. That would be criminal in my eyes.
None of them beat Seaton Deleval Hall. End of. I'm not even wanting owt done with the stadium, but these rules on listed buildings in a lot of cases are nuts in an over populated world.
Cheeky ****er, lived there all me life Lovely house on the edge of Castle Eden dene. Wouldn’t move anywhere else.
Hmmmm, someone from Alnwick using phrases like Good Grief and Finest, Golly Gosh and spiffing could be the bloody Duke and Dutchess of Northumberland, in which case - Thanks for doing heehaw in getting rid of the Fat Man.
Surely a happy compromise can be reached could we not just cut the half closest to the East stand down and leave the furthest away bit standing? Or better still just the front wall, windows and doors to give the impression its still there
Probably a dumb question but could we flatten the stadium then rebuild it a few hundred yards or so west?
There has been suggestions that they could perhaps rotate it 90 degrees. and re-route Barrack Road. This would then pretty much involve the Gallowgate and Leazes being the pitch side stands and Milburn and East being behind the goals. The issue would be where the **** do we play in the mean time? Can you imagine winning the title or the CL whilst ground sharing with them ****ing divvy's man ???????
Actually I remember reading a while back about ground sharing with 1 of the Edinburgh clubs or Murrayfield can't remember, but that'd be class for a year
Saying **** you to all new kids and their families who might want to become ST holders in the future isn't the way forward. If we become successful and the ground is too small a solution must be found. I read somewhere about a plan to rotate the ground to gain space towards the Barrack rd area. But then we'd have play elsewhere for a season or two. Gateshead stadium maybe or Kingston Park. Or we just bite the bullet and move wholesale to another site. The Reubens have ****loads of land around Gosforth Park.
I think the Arena site has already been earmarked as a potential to keep it in the City Centre. I think we have to accept change as part of this process. I love St James though - it’s a special place
