    Fine question my ole mate.
I really really like this beast and tomorrow we find out how good he actually is. This is a step up in class and with some real class animals in the line up.
He has to give 2lbs to a Welsh Grand National winner so no small task. I think its great that connections are sticking with his jockey but I would prefer to see a more seasoned pro at this level on board. I hope he progresses and actually I think he will but not confident enough to recommend him on here. That said, if you backed him the last day, he owes you nothing. Trip and going no problem but the stiff Haydock fences take no prisoners. Cmon the Bear.
PS; He is in the Eider next Saturday and I would have thought that might have been a softer target.

Sorry, my response was "Nass-esque" <laugh>

Why do you give him a chance? He's absolutely gone at the game.

Thanks for the reply. Have to have a go as would be gutted if he won without backing him.

Yard in cracking form with the double the other day at Sandown too. Dr Kananga and this one both came out of points and it seems the handicapper under judged the pair.

The handicapper has a difficult enough job keeping tabs on rules racing in GB and Ireland without going anywhere near the amateur game. The huge problem for the handicapper is that if you look at Opens there may be plenty of rules form on offer but a lot of it will be from horses on the slippery slope. To know the scene you need to be a regular and know where the diamonds are. Even the bookies struggle!

Ten years ago Alan King's Invictus won one of the best renewals of the Reynoldstown Chase that I can remember. Bobs Worth finished 2nd, Alfie Spinner 3rd and Silviniaco Conti 4th. Whilst the beaten horses went on to have long and fruitful careers, Invictus subsequently suffered an injury which kept him off the track for over 18 months and was to run just once more, finishing 11th in the 2013 Hennessy Gold Cup. Such a shame for connections as he looked like a tremendous staying chaser in the making.

I always like to remember past renewals of these big races :)

Secret Reprieve @ 9/2 is a bet for me in the GN trial at Haydock. After a sticky start in the Welsh National lto he travelled nicely and looked to have a big chance turning in before fitness found him out. Having got dropped a few lbs for that he’s now got even less chance of getting in the big un come April. Must run well today though. I’m also on Henry Daly’s Fortescue already tipped up by Pilgrim. Sorry Pilgrim! Good luck all.

ben jones deserves the ride , he’s done nothing wrong , seems a very competent jock , will know the horse for starters , has won imperial cup hasn’t he for emma lavelle the other year ? you’re right about it being a different level of racing , but i suppose they want to see where they stand !

Re Waiting Patiently, if I may. Mister Christian gave a local radio interview, yesterday, in which he said that he was looking to today's race as something of 'a springboard' to bring the horse on for latter season targets. Although what targets he didn't say.

Taking those comments at face value, therefore, you do have to wonder if today's race is Waiting Patiently's 'Greenham'?!?
