He's played for two or three managers, in front of two different keepers, two systems and various defenders. Absolutely impossible to make a sensible judgement imo.
nowt really to add in all honesty, i usually give a player around 10 games to settle, get up to speed (if needed) and get himself into the way a team plays and the new managers ideas/role for him. unfortunately he started strong, had the obligatory 'sunderland defenders mare' and not looked so good in a struggling team since...he has done it in the past and we have seen it albeit briefly so i believe he will show his worth, the downside is that he does not have a lot of time, really.
Think there’s a lot more to it than that mind. He’s injured anyway at the minute so it’s irrelevant. I never saw Charlie Hurley play but my Dad says he was superb! I don’t think oldargus was actually “comparing” the players rather than the situation. I won’t write him off. It may be too late already for this season anyhow
Funny. Most on social media thought he was a decent defender. Disappointed he’d left. That said, I’ll take an average championship centre half over an average league 1 centre half!
When we signed him I remember Stoke fans saying they'd rather have got rid of a couple of their other CBs before him and they're a decent championship side. He'll be a good player we just need to lift ourselves up off the floor and play with some conviction.
Big stoke fan I know was gutted he left. Leader, no nonsense defender. He had entered a **** show. Let’s see what kinda tune Neil can get out of him over the next month or so before judging
best defender we have seen in my 45 as a supporter years is Steve bould and he was getting on when he signed for us.
Big tough defender which is just what we needed, he's been let down by lack of any pace in defence or cover from full backs.
