So at the end of all this excitement the main change is that KLD has public commitment for the other shareholders to sell. Good but lets have 3 points on Saturday .. far more valuable.
So the clusterfu k of a managerial appointment was solely down to him then. Not sure that makes me feel any happier.
Wasn't really a cluster ****, managers turn down clubs all the time, they moved on and got Neil in. We have no idea why Keane never came .
Tell ya what, I might need to time out meself from over the road. It’s the pit of misery over there and I can’t help biting all the time. so much more pragmatic here.
@RokerReport Interesting stuff from Barnesy on the radio tonight: - 12 managers interviewed, 8 got second interviews - Roy Keane DID NOT get a 2nd - Bally's furlough ended today and he turned down a new role - Broadhead (10 days) & O'Nien (2 weeks) returning soon #SAFC
Caught a bit of it earlier, the interview with Steve Davison was in as well. It is on BBC sounds..... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bk050x
I wanted big sam or Neil myself anyway so I would like to think Keane didn’t get another interview, sad to see Bally go but hey ho, and good news on the injury front
It looked like a shambles from the outside and the fact it took so long, we dropped points as a result, its hard to argue against it being a shambles. What we don't know is who's fault that was? Was the manager we chased and wanted messing us about making out he would sign for days before eventually turning it down or us withdrawing the offer? Was the whole thing of club always having several candidates for any role identified a load of bull and it was square one when Johnson got fired? Did we mess Keane about not meeting his demands thinking he would back down, instead of moving on if we knew we weren't going to meet demands? We never get to know any of this best we can hope is a bit from a itk!
Second interview! The idea that any known manager would need a second interview tells you more about the interviewer than the interviewee. Pick a man. You should by then know everything about his football past. Everything. After that, one interview shouldo it, if you know what you're doing. We were not looking for a few extra people to work in the back office, trying to pick five out of thirty.
Aye agree. The moment Keane chucked his hat in the ring we should have chucked it back, harder. There was a lot of naievety involved, in my opinion, in entertaining him (same with Defoe for me but hope he proves me wrong). He couldnt be less appealing as a head coach if he tried. Doesnt mean of course we have the right man, nor that we were right to sack the existing fella, but Keane would have been an unmitigated disaster in my opinion, and an overly expensive one.
