The little Latvian. The commentator did enjoy his alliteration.
I was under the west stand for this game, just where Marian celebrated his first goal.
I can imagine our second not being scored, in modern football, simply because of the way Marsden took the ball with his studs, in the build up. No danger to the opposition player but …….
A question for the older ones on here.
I have a vague memory, from around late 60s, early 70s, of us beating Everton 2-1, with all three goals scored in injury time.
Part of the memory is of one of my brothers leaving the ground before the end, and not seeing any of the goals.
    Did I imagine this?

I was in West Stand towards Milton end & remember having a great view of Beattie’s cross & Marian’s goal. Not sure about the injury time 2-1 game but I do recall one where all 3 goals were scored in last 15mins, going 1-0 down & bouncing back with 2 late goals to secure a win.

Just found it; yes you were right! 1-0 in the 90th followed by 2x Mick Channon goals there after. 17th Jan 1970

Seemed to be about the alliteration because unless he grew whilst playing here (which doesn’t make sense) he isn’t really “little”. Unless his height listed online is wrong. Might just be that absurdly large shirt he seemed to be wearing

Yes, 2-0 iirc. They properly had their flip-flops on that day.

If memory serves, was this the game that the winner came when Tommy Jenkins turned the then England fullback inside out before crossing for Mick Channon to score..

No, especially after taking into consideration, assists, goal etc! Been a bit if a revelation and that comes from confidence, both within himself, and from his coach.

    Good find, thank you.
The memory isn’t what it used to be.

Could not get a ticket but was living and studying in Southampton at the time so decided to walk down with my mate and wait outside the ground about ten minutes before the final whistle!
Stayed out all night and it was the best party atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced. It was like we had WON the league! Great, great memories and thanks for posting the clip!

A work colleague at the time was away on holiday for the last 2 weeks of the season so I nabbed his season ticket and got the Leicester and Everton games as well as managing to get a ticket for the Delhurst park game in between. What a couple of weeks that was...!! :emoticon-0100-smile

Only Tella out for this one. Ralph saying that the Manchester United job "holds no interest for him".

Good to see Lampard not buying into some of the faux outrage online.

Lampard is a good lad. He knows that everyone does the same dark arts.

Doucoure, Mina, Godfrey and Gray all ruled out. Doucoure is a huge miss for them - he was almost single handedly responsible for Everton beating us on the opening day. And without Mina they'll struggle to contain Broja.

Be happier if Richarlison was missing.

Certainly not against us - Richarlison is one of those players that always seems to score against us!
