Yes would have been a smart move to sign someone that comes without a sick note and knows where the back of the net is!
Nicholson wrestled to the ground by Akins ref turns down penalty appeal Quinn yellow carded 52nd minute Seems to be a much better start to the 2nd half getting into their box / half more often Collins looks to be fouled in the box ref books him for simulation, glad they can't accuse him of being a home favouring ref 88th minute Saunders for Harry Anderson, he is then cynically fouled by JJ O'Toole who is yellow carded Matty Longstaff now booked 92nd minute From the commentary on I Follow and Sam Frost we didn't get any reward for our 2nd half performance, think we were unlucky today
Todays line up v Sutton Formation 4-2-3-1 Belshaw, Hoole, Anderton, Taylor, Connolly, Coutts, H Anderson, Finley, E Anderson, Nicholson, Collins Subs Jaakkola, Harries, Thomas, Whelan, Clarke, Rodman, Saunders. Good to see Alex Rodman is getting back to full fitness and at least being picked for the subs bench A note on Bristol Live from Port Vale Darrell Clarke has been given extended leave due to a family bereavement In response to JBs comment Nigel Owen has offered to get his boots and whistle out of retirement
Weird - came up with penalty on BBC. live text. Obviously wrong. Anyhoo - a goal’s a goal, well done Harry and UTG!
Kenny Davies 1st yellow of the night 12th minute Rovers do seem to be attacking well but the chances they are creating are being missed Collins has the ball in the net but is deemed to be in an offside position in the 40th minute 2 minutes stoppage time Coutts misses a penalty 45+1 minutes HT 1 - 0 Rovers
Bloody hell we should be out of sight by now! We’re playing well but those misses tend to come back and bite you in football.
They are not near top of the table for no reason so hopefully we can get a second quickly and take the wind out of their sails. notice on I Follow they only have 5 subs listed Aaron Collins 46th minute 2 - 0. Started both halves very well lets see if we can keep it up now Harry Anderson and Joe Kizzi both booked for a lash of the ball 56th minute According to I follow we have had 18 shots 6 on target Coby Rowe yellow carded for foul on Anderson after he had taken the ball off him who shortly afterwards was substituted
Whelan replaces Coutts 70th minute Luke Thomas replaces Harry Anderson who gets a standing ovation 77th minute Donovan Wilson replaced by Ricky Korboa 80th minute Leon Clarke on for Nicholson 83rd minute our final substitution 4 minutes of stoppage time 11th in the table 2 - 0 win a missed penalty and a disallowed goal for off side and a clean sheet, a good nights work. Well done the Gas Exeter 3 - 1 down to win 4 - 3 v Harrogate
Excellent display by the sounds of it against an opponent who hadn’t lost for 10 previous games. We should have been done and dusted by half time but it was a great three points. Late charge to the playoffs?
We are on a pretty good run. If we hadn't slipped up against Oldham we would be very close to the play offs.
That’s true. If we win our game in hand we’ll be 4 points off - next up Stevenage away who’ve got a whole raft of ex Rovers players in their squad. If we can nail the famous Rovers inconsistency and continue this run then 2022 is looking good so far. UTG!
I hope the lads play as well against the likes of Stevenage and Orient. They made Sutton look like a National League team to be honest.
If anybody has Sky there are 2 minutes of highlights on last nights match that can be seen, convinced that their keeper was well of his line when the penalty was taken and that it should have been retaken. Aaron Collins goal was superb piece of finishing from a very tight angle and Anderson goal wasn't bad either
Collins' goal was sublime - he only had one chance to hit it from there and it was absolutely perfect.
I thought that about the keeper regarding the penalty but I paused it when Coutts connected with the ball and the keeper had 1 foot still on the line while his other foot and the rest of him was off the line where he stepped out to push off to his right. I was very surprised as like you I thought he was completely off his line.
I was under the impression that the keeper had to have both feet on the line and be still until the ball had been struck
