The replays of Manquillo's injury showed him coming down awkwardly with all his weight on the ankle. It looked quite serious and I am surprised he was able to play on for a while. Hopefully if Trippier is fit it will be Trippier, Schar, Burn and Targett at the back. Put Targett on Bowen and Burn on Antonio and you nullify their main attacking threats. Watched them for a while against Leicester last night and they are not as impressive as they were earlier in the season. Soucek seems way off the form. Rice is a real threat and I would tell Willock to just follow him around and make sure he never gets the time and space to play in. Trippier will be important as well as Cresswell likes to get forward a lot down their right. Reckon we could get something from this.
Bollocks to resting a few. We're on a good run and you don't give that up easily. Our form is good and our own mentality is just as big a factor as who the opposition are. So much of our early season form was down to mental fragility as much as anything else. Let's keep the positive mental attitude and try and get something from this game. If we have a good game and play at our best there is no reason we can't get something from this game. It will be a tough game and difficult to get anything from it - but not impossible.
Toughest game for a while. Hard to see how or why you'd change it, unless out of necessity - just the presence of Bruno has got the midfield trio playing out of their skins, Jonjo included. Fitness work is really starting to kick in, seeing Jonjo actually running back in the 90th minute was baffling yesterday. Trippier or Manq being fit at right back is a big thing though, as has been said I think Schar would be better there than Krafth with Lascelles back in the middle. At least Schar understands football, Krafth is a Sunday League right back (relatively speaking). The rapid improvement in Ryan Fraser will help. Again I think we'll come back to earth at some point, so a draw would be an excellent result. That said, I think there's a very small chance we could nick another 1-0.
And looking at all the other fixtures next weekend, getting something would be huge and squeeky bum time for about 6 or 7 teams.
---------------Wood------------------ ASM----------------------------Fraser ----Joe------Shelvey----Willock---- Targett--Burn---Schar------Trippier/Manq/Krafth ----------------Dubz------------------------ If we're losing at half time, bring on Bruno!!!!!
No Trippier. Targett - Burn - Lascelles - Schar at the back for me. Or somehow turn Krafth into a pressing, competent full back in one week. Trippier probably out for the season.
****s sake, why????W?E?WQ.aqmwopidnp napn'pdns'ad Is this a sign of what is to come? Has trippier usually been an injury prone player? Looking at his record not really. How the **** did he get injured anyway? Broken foot? I thought it was a calf injury? Manquillo might be back in time? Any news on him? I'd say the fact we got a good LB back behind a LW who cannot defend is less critical than a questionable RB behind a good RW who can cover in fraser.
Looking on the Brightside though, at least the injuries are only to fullbacks, and the side can literally be played at almost full strength.
He was accidentally stood on. No, he's not injury prone. We don't know more yet - he was in a boot to immediately start recovery. If it's a fiddly bone - metatarsal - it's 2 months or so. If it's something more basic he could have surgery and be back in 3-4 weeks or so. Manq was ankle ligaments, so it's all down to whether it's a sprain (one week) or torn (4-6 weeks). Either way, there's no decent RB available for West Ham. Still, there's 10 other players who've been excellent (well, 9 and Chris Wood). So we can still do it. It'll be tough, a draw would be very welcome. Then it's just get through game by game. I still think the bottom three will come from Norwich, Burnley, Watford and Brentford. I genuinely don't think we're going to be in that mix.
We are not going down. I strongly believe we are good enough even without Trippier. We have turned a corner. 5 games ago we were on 10 points!! We have the momentum and a much improved mental state. We will be fine.
Our luck ain't improved that much mind. Tripps looks ****ing ridiculous, has a good injury record. Boom someone accidently tramples him.
Apparently Manquillo could be fit for the weekend! Would be a massive boost! Him and Targett either side of the back 4 makes us a lot harder to beat!
I hope Wood gets his first goal in this game, it's been too long we rely on midfielders to score our goals.
