Having just read an article about Cesar on the Chels website, it just got me thinking of what a bargain we picked up from Marseilles (reported to be £7 million). I remember he wasn't the top target for right back 3 years ago but as an U 21 Spanish international we were buying potential. Little did we know what we were about to get. Switched to left back by Jose.....the rest as they say was history ! As a player, gets on with his job with no fuss or complaining. Rarely if ever beaten in one on one situations. Reads the game brilliantly. Considering the money payed out for players down the years....this is one signing that wins the watch !
Hard to argue with your sum up, he's been a terrific player. Good as he is at left back, I still think he's better at right. Trouble is, Ivan has been playing so well. Nevertheless I regret us selling Bertrand. With him at left back we had the opportunity to rotate Dave and Ivan, Ivan also could rotate in CD with JT or Cahill. Still that's history now, and we're "stuck" with Dave ! We should be so lucky . Another big season coming up for Dave for sure.
Also on the Chelsea website, guess who is back at Chelsea...............................................oh OK Paulo Ferriera as assistant to Eddie Newton.
Great bit of business. Actually if you look at our Defence of Courtois, Ivan, Dave, Terry and Cahill. That only costs us about 40 million in transfer fees. Courtois probably worth that alone now!

Can’t argue either that. He’s never caused a fuss, always given 100% for the team and been a great leader on the field over the years. Probably our most underrated captain. A club legend for sure. The next question is, who replaces him?
