Brilliant performance yesterday from everyone to beat the Brazilians for the World Club Cup. A fantastic bullet header from Lukaku - seeing the Brazilians pick that out of the back of the net made my evening. As for ‘Dave’ - he’s now won every major club cup while at Chelsea. A great time to be a Chelsea supporter, unbelievable that we once often struggled in the old Div 2 during the 1980s. We really are now amongst the greatest clubs in the world.
When I started supporting the club I never expected any kind of glory. The 97 FA Cup in itself felt like a pipe dream. I used to regularly take stick from United, Liverpool and Arsenal fans, funny how the tables have turned.
I know that my Grandad and Great Grandad used to watch Chelsea from the 1920s onwards. They’re long gone over the rainbow bridge - in their day we used to make up the numbers in the old top flight and we were often the whipping boys for the Spuds and Arsenal. Now we’re World Club Cup Champions and we’ve won it all!
Was wondering last night why Dave was shaping up to take the pen and then just handed it to Kai. Just read on BBC Football website he knew their crowd would try sledging the taker, so he took the incoming ****e, and then Kai takes the pen un-interrupted. Dave....what a Legend !!!
…….I read that article as well. ‘Dave’ has a great footballing brain because football at the highest level can be more about psychology. The Brazilians had their drums beating at full whack but it was us that benefitted more from the rhythm of their drums.
Has to be captain of the Chelsea Legends. This man has never let Team or Club down, on or off the pitch. He is still worth his place on merit every game he plays. He' might be a bit slower, but he can play at the top level, which ever position he is chosen. Absolute Champion player and man.
