Swansea City v Bristol City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 13 February 2022 Kick off - 1:00pm Following their hugely disappointing capitulation to Stoke City when they were thumped 3-0 at the Bet365 Stadium, next up for Russell Martin’s stuttering Swansea squad is a home match against (an equally inconsistent) Bristol City. On Tuesday evening, Jaden Philogene-Bidace scored the first league goal of his career as Stoke cruised to a 3-0 victory over 10-man Swansea City. On-loan Aston Villa starlet Philogene-Bidace marked his 20th birthday by putting Stoke ahead from close range. Lewis Baker scored Stoke's second from the penalty spot after Ryan Bennett was harshly sent off for handball on the line. Jacob Brown's pinpoint finish wrapped up a win which sees Stoke climb to 10th, while the Swans dropped to 17th. This was a welcome triumph for the Potters, whose recent Championship record at the bet365 Stadium has been miserable. A first home league victory since November - and just a second in the last nine attempts - lifts Michael O'Neill's team back to within three points of the play-off places. Any hope of a late surge for a top-six spot looks over for Swansea, who could have few complaints about this result given the lacklustre nature of their performance. The following evening, Bristol City beat struggling Reading who lost for the sixth successive time in the Championship. A drab first period was brought to life shortly before the break when Antoine Semenyo fired in from close range for City after good work by Andreas Weimann. City doubled their lead as some wonderful build-up play shortly after the restart saw Cameron Pring's cross turned into his own net by Michael Morrison under pressure from Alex Scott. Semenyo hit the post with 25 minutes to go before John Swift pulled one back for Reading from the penalty spot to set up a tense finish. However, the Royals failed to convert a host of late chances as they pushed for an equaliser. Bristol City's first win in four games saw them move above the Swans into 16th place in the Championship. The Swans have played the Robins on 72 previous occasions, winning 22, losing 29 and drawing 21. In the corresponding match last season, the promotion chasing Swans, who missed a plethora of chances in the first half, and despite taking the lead courtesy of an Andre Ayew penalty, were surprisingly beaten 1-3 by The Robins: Turning to Sunday, I’m hopeful that the Swans will bounce back from the woefully inept performance against Stoke. However, Bristol City will be on a high following their victory over Reading and will undoubtedly fancy their chances of avenging the 1-0 defeat at Ashton Gate earlier in the season. However, I think that the teams will share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Thanks Taff.....disappointed as I was after that game not performance on Tuesday I think we will win this one if only for RM not to get chastised by our support who have been failed by our new messiahs brand of sideways slow slow slow backwards style of possession football
The Penlan Zidane: My wife and I actually were out walking on the beach when that interview took place. Spoken to Shaun a couple of times in the David Lloyd Swansea club. Nice guy
Going to the Scotland game tomorrow so surely it can't be a total wipeout this weekend. So ever the optimist it's a 2-1 win for me
55282 our game switched because SWP weren’t happy about manning some rugby game in Cardiff at the same time as our game against the Robins due to the probability of trouble down here with the visitors....there is history...
Forecast for tomorrow is heavy rain and gales so will we play our possession football or go long with the weather..?
I think we will not score from a set piece or be awarded a penalty...... just a hunch. think they are a high scoring team so will be tough, hope we can raise our game after players had a rocket for last outing at Stoke.
