Well, he’s a bit older and wiser . He’s always had the skill but it does seem Ralph is helping him fulfil his potential.

 

I wouldn't be against someone discreetly pulling out McCarthy's supposed new contract, and just tipexing out his name in favour of Fraser.

Really? Sure Fraser is capable of pulling off a great save, but he is always liable for a clanger - he very nearly had one today. People go way overboard with praising him sometimes for making a save that any other PL keeper would/should make. Given the salary he is on I really hope/expect us to move him on and get someone in who is reliable.

 

Without a doubt. Probably better to look as well.

Good shout actually, think most of us have been critical. I'm still not convinced he will keep this up and be a regular starter in one of our no.10 spots, but he has shown he is certainly better than Djenepo & Walcott and adds to the squad.

 

That doesn't mean we should suddenly pretend that he's a reliable keeper. He's at his best working on instinct and doesn't have to adjust his footing, other than that he is far too shaky to rely on IMO.

 

Give me Fraser over McCarthy any day.

Doesn't necessarily have to mean that we can't still go out and sign a new keeper. I would want two keepers.

 

Yes. my opinion of him has improved greatly over the past two matches but it's not before time that he showed his true quality for us.

I'd disagree but fair enough. I would be surprised if Fraser takes a cut from his current salary, which is far too much to pay a back up GK.

Agree about his salary being too high for a back-up. But that's why I said (somewhat jokingly) about handing him Alex's contract. If we're prepared to pay McCarthy X (whatever X might be), I would rather we paid it to Fraser instead. Whether he would accept that is another matter.
