I like 4 at the back and would like it to work all the time it allowed more creatively in midfield and attack
However they all have to work there socks off for the remaining games
That’s the least we can expect

He didn’t say that though did he ? Wasn’t it about the Roy Keane tantrums ? I can only think of a handful of games - I’d say the end of Short’s reign where the fan’s didn’t help he side - generally at games they are inspiring. But there’s been some disrespectful **** spoken about other managers and clubs this week. Someone saying Preston were a nothing club, Neil isn’t good enough for Sunderland. It’s just not right. Most - especially on here - are level headed. On RTG however it badly represents us. The great posters are drowned out by half wits.

They're not negative, they're just realists and no one would be happier than them if we win

If it was up to them we’d have no players left to pick and no managers left to appoint and no owners willing to buy us

The best thing to do then is don’t go, that way they shoot into the championship with no hammerings from the dross in this league.

Not here to protect him (don't know the bloke)

He's said it wrong but he's right.

There is more to it though, the club is such a major part of the people of the city and has a major effect on mood, as do other things such as unemployment, poverty, immigration, Brexit etc.

This used to be a proud town (before it was a city). A town where people could create things and feel that they were making a contribution with plenty of opportunity. Thatcher and others have gradually chipped at that confidence and self worth. Even then, we could look at our club and be proud, ambitious and optimistic. The last 5 years of SAFC have now stripped that away which for me has resulted in expecting the worst and over reacting. I tend to massively over reacted (or bed wet).

It's hard to keep the faith when that's all you have.

The fans are and always have been magnificent and everyone knows it. Our strength and voice as a unit has the ability to lift and inspire, so it's only logical that we also have the ability to negatively affect things too. It's not intentional and as I said I think other factors have contributed to an expectation that things will turn to sh+t and look and search out negatives.

Just my opinion based on how I feel sometimes

Yeah I feel that. I travel back when I can for games from where I live on the West Yorkshire / Manchester border and there sometimes feel like there’s anger and tension in the air and winning the football just matters so much. More I think than other places. If it isn’t going well it’s hard going so must be for the players and manager under that pressure but when it goes well it’s top of the world. As we know from the past, a promotion run would lift the place football and otherwise. It needs a strong man to steady the ship. Step up Alex Neil

Anyone not familiar with football who read our history over the last few years would wonder why we still get gates of 30,000 and more.

Realists? You mean opinionated surely m8? Their reality needn’t necessarily be mine or yours for that matter. I find the negativity amusing if I’m honest, and while half of them are mags or wums, those that are supporters who are that down about us as a team probably need to go and find another hobby before they do themselves a mischief.

I know exactly where you're coming from and there is a difference. The wife has asked me that now we have a new manager, are we going to win today cos I've been in a bad mood around the house for 2 weeks!

Spot on mate. I'm often asked why I keep going, my reply is always the same, of it wanted to be a fan of a club and see them win every week I'd follow Man City. Supporters go through thick and thin, fans turn up when the goings good.
